Ok, heres the problem. I just changed out my tranny fluid on my 03 Xb9S, now whenever I try to shift it at a complete stop it takes alot of effort. I changed it out with Royal Purple 20/50. Another weird thing, the bike now wont let me start it in gear. However, when I took the tranny cover off it shifte. I thought maybe got some bad oil so I changed out today and still experiencing same issue.
Before the oil change, the bike was shifting fine, it also started in any gear. I wonder if I assembled it incorrectly?

what was the tranny fluid before and in what condition was it?

does the bike crawl forward with clutch disengaged?

1. adjust your primary chain to spec
2. only add enough oil until it reaches the gears on the clutch diaphragm spring at the bottom of the primary

if your chain isnt within spec, OR you overfill the primary (1QT is usually too much unless the bike is dry) you will experience exactly what youre describing.

BPG, thats true.

mosiac00, did you remove any other parts behind the clutch inspection cover beyond the nut with spring attached?

Sorry I took so long to answer fellows. I have been busy playing mechanic on my bike. Typeon, i didnt remove any parts beside the 2 covers. After drained the tranny i put in the recommended amount of fluid, up to the line indicated in the manual.
Lefox, the bike does shoot forward alittle. After careful look i notice the nut in the middle of the clutch doesnt seem to be line up with the notches. It probably needs a clutch alignment. maybe?

Ok, i double check the service manual, I overfilled. So i drained some of it out and adjusted the clutch. Now everything runs better then before. No more sore forearms, I dont need to apply so pressure. Wish i had asked for help earlier. thanks for the help.[up]

good to hear you're back in action
