Hello everyone, I just purchased an all black '09 XB12Scg. It's my first Buell, and actually my first bike! Here's a quick picture of it parked in my garage:

It's mostly stock, but I will be making some changes to it. I removed the cheese grater and added a moto diesel tail, and I've reinstalled the stock mirrors since one of the previously installed bar end mirrors was missing. The previous owner also wrapped the headers. Since this bike has low miles (1700ish) and I have a few kids in the house, my next purchase will likely be axle and engine sliders from 5-0dro (thanks Sandro!) and possibly a stand for the bike. Would you guys recommend bar end sliders as well?

The bike also came with a Jardine CF exhaust and a K&N filter. The previous owner told me that he added an O2 controller as well. I was considering keeping the Jardine, but after a few runs I've decided that it is too loud for my relatively quiet neighborhood. I will likely reinstall the stock exhaust. Therefore, I would need to remove the O2 controller. Can you guys tell me if the wire towards the bottom of this picture is it? It has a blue tag on it:

Is that the O2 controller, and do you just unplug it or does something else need to be reset? The exhaust pops a lot when I'm off throttle, so I'm sure the O2 controller isn't as effective as a tuned/race ECM. I'd like to reinstall the stock exhaust to quiet it down and to see if it will run better.

Also, can anyone tell me if this line, which says "to oil pump", has been improperly cut? It just doesn't look right to me.

Thanks guys for your input. I look forward to learning more on this forum!

Mike

Cant tell you about the o2 controller, but as far as the oil pump line, on mine it is the same.

that line is fine. it is the transmission vent congrats on the new bike. I am glad to see you are getting the Jardine off there. (they are known for blowing apart) can't help you on the o2 controller.

Thanks guys for letting me know about the line. I'll post more pictures as I continue making changes.

nice bike,
too bad your putting the stock can back on.
any thoughts on another after market pipe..
maybe your stock can con go to Randy Hawkins who can massage it to give you better performance then stock yet retain the look and not piss off the neighborhood watch
:D

I might be interested in the Jardine CF,, I have avery low miles stock muffler on a XB9 (2004) here. I will know in a day or so the exact miles, but i believe less than 100 miles on it.

Congrats man! I'm a fellow LA Bueller although mine is currently experiencing some minor hiccups and me not having enough time to deal with them. Let me know if you need a hand otherwise.

The bike runs okay with the ViED. The ViED is supposed to allow you to change the AFR to 13.7-14.3, and I've read that XBs run best at around 14.0 using the ViED. I've got it dialed in at about 13.9-14.0.

I've actually emailed EBR to ask about their opinion of the ViED and about possibly swapping it out for one of their ECMs, and they state that the ViED only changes certain parameters of the fuel map when you need about 99% of the fuel map changed when going from a stock to a Jardine exhaust. With the ViED, I do feel a change: it starts off with a lumpy idle until the ViED kicks in, after which it is smoother down low. But like EBR says, I'm sure it is just a band aid fix and an their ECM will improve running characteristics.

If you want to put the stOck exhaust back on and if you like the looks of it maybe you should consider sending it to hawk proformance and let him give you some more housepower out of your bike will keeping it the stock look.

Also look the bike looks good if I were to get an Xb that's the bike right there love the triple black and scg! Annddd 12 haha
