Hey,

I just bought a 2004 Buell Lightening XB12S with only 6000 miles. This is my first bike so I'm clueless on how to ride it... Could someone point me to the FAQ's?

Thanks!

Hi

Welcome to the forum! Very nice bike you picked up there[up]. And only advice to give on riding, is get on it and ride it. You will learn what you can and cannot do on it. Its very responsive. Good luck with it and be safe

Take a motorcycle safety course! They are designed for people like yourself, with no riding experience.

Oh yeah, nice bike and welcome to the forum.

Definatly take a motorcycle safety course. I had never ridden before when I got my XB9R, and now I ride it everyday. Plus you can get discounted insurance rates by taking the course so thats a nice added bonus. Congrats and welcome.

Hey Rudeboim3. Congrats on the new bike! looks great! Just wondering, is the Rudeboi thing ska related?

hey rudeboim3 & welcome!

not bad for a first bike, you'll never meet another like it [up]

if you wanna improve fast, go through several courses...they are well worth it!
otherwise you can get it over time, trying things but use your common sense.

could you do me a favor? i started out with the same bike as you, but was stupid not to have any pictures of it's original state...could you send me a couple from every angle?

The best advice I can give is ride within your limits. Don't try to do something you see another rider do that you are not yet comfortable at. Definately take the motorcycle safety course, it's well worth it. Good luck!

I agree I'm not new to bikes, I grew up riding dirt bikes. But my XB12s is my second street bike, the first was a 78 Honda CB550 cafe racer that is far less powerful than my Buell. I ride with a group of friends with fast sport bikes and went to a very twisty canyon road as soon as I got it. I tried to keep up with them and scared the crap out of myself. So yes take it slow at first and you'll know when your ready to push the limits. By the way welcome from one noob to another.:)

in about 6 months, they will be trying to keep up with you in those twisties :D

Hello everyone,

Thank you for all the comments! I just got the bike delivered and can't wait to get home from work to ride it!

Few things I need to do now:

- I need to find out where the motorcycle Safety Course is located near the Cincinnati Ohio area.

- I need a place to buy the Gear! Helmet, Jacket, Gloves, Pants... what else?

-LeFox, I will take some pics for you soon and post them up.

The 'RudeBoiM3' is just a title, I'm asian but the 'Rude Boi' is a 'Jamaican' thing, and M3 is because I own a E46 M3 as a car.

See you guys around!

Since you obviously have internet access do a search for "motorcycle safey foundation ohio" or something similar to get the results you want. Also most harley dealers offer the "Riders Edge" program. Word of caution though, they are a lot more expensive and will try to sell you an HD. The MSF supplies bikes and helmets. They are also way cheap, $20 in Illinois. Classes fill up fast so hurry.

20 bucks that is cheap i looked into then in my area and the price started at 150 an went a little over 200. And with my work I hate to pay for the class then cant get away from work to take it.

Hey I was looking at this bike as well and noticed it got re posted. Do you still have it, and if not whats up with it? Thanks for the help!

Yeah, the classes in IL are cheap, but good grief they are hard to get in. I've been trying for months now. So, basically I've been just riding around the neighborhood taking it easy.

Rodeboim3, we have the exact same bike. Good luck with it man and take it easy. These bikes have a lot of torque.

I just got my bike a month ago and it is an 04 with the same color scheme. You will get used to your bike and it will fill more comfortable as you go just remember you don't have to keep up with the expirenced riders. It took me alittle bit before i felt comfortable on the freeway.

Wow Good group of guys, I also just got my frist bike last week XB12sTT superTT it has been a dream for 10years and now it MINE!!! I have inrolled in a course that will start in a week or so. Dude if you have waited as long as me, take your time and lean right. This is so cool and no point in getting it screw up by pushing it! In time it will come.

Cool site and it seems to be a good gourp. All good advise that I will take to heart! THANKS GANG!
