I just bought a new '06 XB12R two weeks ago, and I can't go a day without taking it out for a ride. It is definitely the most fun bike I have ever ridden, but I would like a little more power. Not much of a motorhead, so I'm not sure where to start. Can someone give me a few tips on some cheap ways to get more out of my beast.

Again I'm amazed that people want more power out of a 1200cc, 395 lb sport bike. If you want to go cheap I would suggest taking off your exhaust pipe (saves weight and frees up back-pressure), remove the useless air filter (just slows down air flow and adds a pound or two), and dump the rear brake (you can stop with the front rotor if you're careful). lol just kidding. I'd go with the Drummer muffler that's been discussed on this forum. It sounds like you don't need other mods with it and it could add some power.

what buellxb said...

plus i have the drummer pipe and it does what it advertises, and the sound will get you looks that will make you laugh...(i love when people hear me coming, know it has to be a Harley, turn to look at me, and then their jaw hits the ground and their eyes almost pop out of their head) so i pull in the clutch roll the throttle a couple of times and then leave em scratchin their head wondering what the &%#$ was that. that never gets old...oh and setting off parked car's alarms as you pass is another fun game you can play with this pipe.

heres a thought...how much do you weigh?

work out and diet a little if you are a bit heavy that is...shed a few pounds yourself and increas the power to weight ratio.

losing two pounds off your gut is equal to buying a couple pieces of carbon fiber parts...without the $$$

well, brad, I am 6'5"-245. There's really not a whole lot that I can lose. Thanks anyways...lol...I really can't complain about the power. It is a very strong/quick bike, but I have really begun to get the feel for it, and can see where more power would be awesome. (as long as I can keep the front end on the pavement) Might like to try the Drummer. Do you have a link?

07 black...I am 50 miles south of Houston. Where are you located?

I am 6'1" 240, so I know what you are talking about. Only thing is that I ride a XB9R. There are several companies out there that make big bore and stroker kits for our scooters. I have the full race kit on my bike and it does make a difference. I put on a set of extended pegs and the touring seat (this raises you about 1 inch, and your legs down 1 inch) and it made for a more comfortable ride. I still miss my Harley cruisers, but the Buell is fun for around town.

The link to the Drummer website is www.kdfab.com and Kevin (the owner) is the best as far as customer service and getting your pipe back to you 100% better then when you sent it to him.

The Micron exhaust, Direct link Mapping tool, and the open Air Box conversion makes the MOST power. Gains seem to make the 9 around 90 hp.

The main question is where you want your power to be.

A seven pound reduction equals 1 HP. Call iBoost (Formerly Aerocharger) for a turbo unit. I just saw an article on a Rocket III turbo (stock 147 lbs/ft torque) that is pumping out 215 lbs/ft @ 8 lbs of boost.

Sure why not, just add a turbo and a bottle of Nitrous, good to go. That oughta make some nice skid marks in your pants :D:D:D

in the other thread about ecm theres 87 88 hp with just a clipon muffler..check it out tex..seems to be the biggest bang for the buck...even if its makes 85 hp is all the other money and tuning headacks worth it

biggest power increases to my xb12r were the k&n filter and cutting the airbox open on the back side.
both cheap and noticeable

TexasXB Im 32 miles north of Corpus Christi. If your ever in the area drop me an email . Did u ever get the Drummer? Im just going to modify my stock exhaust. My 09XB12R has plenty of power . Just needs a little more sound.

I agree, Never seen this thread before.

If you want cheap power, buy over-sea's.

BOOYAH!

You know I lost 20lbs since my accident a couple months ago (don't know how laying around doing nothing makes you lose weight?!?!). I can't wait to get back on with my 3 extra weight hp!
