For any of you who have bought anything from me - I need your feedback!!

A member on here requested an exhaust valve servo s0138.1AA and so I sold him one from my '05 Firebolt. He messages me today saying that he received the "newer" version a s0138.2AA. [confused]

Obviously it's a crap shoot as it's one's word against the other, however I have no use AT ALL for a s0138.2AA as I have an '05 XB. Not to mention I removed the entire actuator + cable over a year ago. I even tried to sell it on here - http://www.buellxb.com/Buells-for-Sale/Buell-Parts-for-Sale/Buell-OEM-parts/Various-things-for-sale - too bad that I don't have the pictures from the original for sale ad. Any advice?

Thanks,
Ben K.

I'd say if he covers the shipping back to you to do that, but if you can prove that's the model that came on an 05 I'd take your word for it. This is one of the reasons you ask for pictures when you buy something from someone.

Coincidently I picked up my bike from the shop today and had mine switched out under my extended warranty and it has part # S1138.1AA , so does that mean I have an old one? My bike is an 09.

I have no idea. I google the two part numbers I just under quick observation saw that the '05s had the 1AA, but the 06s used the 2AA. Apparently the 2AA has a plastic sleeve before the actual servo and the 1AA has a metal one. Additionally the connector on the actuator is different. But how would I know - I only had the 1AA.... It might just depend on which year XB you have?

I took the picture that morning and boxed it up after he sent the funds (either same day or next). I would definitely refund money (minus shipping). But still to say I sent the wrong one?

Bah! Hahaha - all is well. He mixed up HIS old one with MY new one! So all in all - everything's good :D [up]

And of course now for whoever wanted to know the 4 different variations of the exhaust servo, there you have that too :p

Crap, didn't realize there were so many different part #s for one kind of part.[confused]

the only difference is the cable bracket at the servo.i gave the one off my 09 to a member with an 03 and it worked for him.

idk - he said the connector was different between the s0138.2aa and the s0138.1aa Your '09 should've had the s1138.1aa which might be a direct swap for the s0138.1aa found in at least the 05s and prior.

FWIW, my 09' xb12ss has part s0138.2aaa which is defective.
It uses a soft plastic gear that is less than 1/16 inch thick under constant tension from the spring.
Mine quit at 7500 miles. Ive read others have lasted less than 1000 miles.

This thread has some good pictures:

Based on Sirius815's post above, it appears that part number S1138.1AA is the newest one that uses metal gears.
Can anyone confirm that?
I dont want to pay $155++ for another defective assembly, especially when all it really needs is a gear.

To answer my own question...

I bought S1138.1AA.
Instead of using screws to seal the exhaust servo, Harley is now using rivets. So unless I drill them out, I cant say for sure what has changed inside. I can say that S1138.1AA is noticeably heavier than the original, so I assume it has the heavier steel gear. Just as Sirius815 indicated.

It made a big difference in midrange performance.
I'm thinking it had gradually gone bad so I didnt notice the loss of torque.
