The Pirelli Scorpion Sync's that came on my bike have been awesome tires but have worn down very quickly because they are a soft rubber compound designed to grip the **** out of the road. It has done just that exceedingly well. But I have a fairly flat spot in my rear tire heading towards the point of needing to be replaced.

What I am looking for is a tire about in the middle of the hard/soft rubber compound arena. The rear tire on my Harley shows very little wear because it's a hard rubber, my Buell has a flat spot because it's so soft. So what's right in between?

Please, no guessing about stuff, I need good, solid, articulable information.

unless you're willing to give up grip on the flanks, you won't find much harder.

multi compound tires will also have about the same center compound as the scorpion.

your best bet would be:
- michelin pilot road 2ct
- pirelli diablo strada or the new good looking pirelli angel'st
- avon azaro'st or storm'st

it's either that or actual touring tires, which will cost you cornering grip and lean-angle

Yea, the sync's aren't that soft as far as sport bike tires go.

I love the Pilot Road 2's... Great wear and they are a dual compound so the sides are softer for better grip. I feel that they are the best all around tire avalable for grip and tire life. I have about 5000 miles on them so far and they don't look much different than when they were new. You will get better mileage and grip with road 2's over your sync's.

here are the thread patterns...so you see they do look good (for a tire)

I have really like the conti's alot.
Here is a picture of the conti road attack
good point, but Bordsnbikes asked for better mileage compared to the pirelli scorpion syncs and he's not going to get that with the conti's. ;)

I just put these Bridgestone Battleax BT016's on. They are a triple compound rear and dual front. Don't have enough mileage on yet to see if they faired better than others.

Those are the road attacks the get good millage.
I would not run the sport attacks or the race attacks which is what i run they only last 3k miles if you take it pretty easy but i love sliding the rear in on a hard corner at the track and the hook great for that.

You guys are awesome! Thank for the great info!

Sounds like I'm gonna get another set of Sync's for now, due to money constraints, then step up to the pilot road 2's.
