All,
I can't seem to find the oil post, I need something I can buy from the auto store.
I change my oil every 2k or so and am tired of making special trips to HD just for oil, or I'm on the road it's Sunday and they are not open!
Thanks

Yes, some like the HD oils but I have found over time that the oils they[HD] use need to be Changed more often than the AmsOil products. The Screaming Eagle products just don't last. THAT Also depends on riding style etc..
Several repairs & Rebuilds, I've done Especially the Buells the Customer was using Screaming Eagle Oil or something NOT made for a V-Twin AND Formula Plus in the Transmission. The Heat[AirCooled] and rougher Style of Riding a lot of the Buells AND some Harley Riders face due to the Buellers wanting Foreign Bike power Nothing Wrong w/that! OR just to haul[speed shifting] it faster wears the componets out.
The Transmission really hasn't changed all that much in the last 30 to 40/Years. Some small items & gearing except for the 6/speed and so on.I have used Amsoil OR Castrol SynTec/ 20/50 with some Lucas Syn.,oil Stabilizer helps to reduce wear(OIL Pump)(especially sidestand Idling) and you can Safely ride 4'500/Miles before changing your oil.
The Transmission is better off with Redline or Amsoil 20/50. for normal riding!
I USE [75/90 Amsoil]-1/2 Quart and 1/2 Quart of 20/50 Amsoil in my 08-XB12R Street Bike the 09- Race bike is Always Redline full Synthetic.
The Clunking loud sound of the Transmission will Never go away due to the Design of the Harleys and Buells large Chambers(primary cover) echos' the shifting even more.
IN my own Bikes I use the Best(I work on others machines all day last thing I want is to work on mine!UnLess it's an Upgrade or just something I want to do. I have learned from Rebuilding others Engines and Machines, & Transmissions that the Proven Oils Like Amsoil,at motorcycle shops or Amsoil.com to order also the Castrol SynTec 20/50{Napa},carrys usually will last till you are due for the usual Maintenance.
If you get the Chance Try a Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer 1/4 of a cup per oil change,.I myself in my own 2/XB12Rs use the Products I have mentioned. My 2002/RC51 and 04/RC I have used Amsoil. Since the 1000/miles Servicing and have over 47,000/miles on the 2002. Adjusted the Valves on the 2002 at 16,000/miles and was really impressed with the Cleaness and overall Lack of wear.
been Riding it like a Bat Out of Hell ever since. Building 2004 RC51 figure I'll do the same with what seems to work. Good Luck,*Jimi

Thanks for the info!!!
Ya right now I use redline 20\50 for trans, amsoil 20\50 in the rear.
Both full syn.
I ride her hard, real hard.....
I'm just tired of only finding it at hd. Guess I need to find that post on here, some one sold it at discount.
Last hd had no ams, and was in a bind low oil and they said screaming E was ok To mix it with ams...
Had to was nothing else around:(>. So I'm home now and wanted to get some ideas before I do oil change.

NOT saying jimijeans said to do this but do NOT ever add any stabilizer or additive of any type to your primary/trans oil. we've replaced alot of clutch packs here from just such nonsense.
