This is my first post and I'm looking for a knowledgeable answer from some of the people here who know more about Buell's than myself. I used to have a 2007 XB9R until a lady ran over it in a parking lot and one of my local grocery stores the summer of 2011. It ended up totaling the bike! [sad]
Since I've been kinda looking for one but not real serious. I have found one that is about 200 miles away! It's a 2007 XB12R. Yellow in color with only 2,500 miles on it. At least this is what the guy is telling me. It does look like it has frame pucks which I had on my 2007. Also he said it has an exhaust/muffler. When I had mine and I was looking for a new exhaust/muffler, the dealership told me I was going to need a chip and change out my intake. Is any of this true? The reason I'm asking is the guy selling said he hasn't done anything to the bike other than the exhaust and frame pucks! I wasn't sure if the bike needed to be "re-mapped" with the new exhaust or at least with the exhaust he has on it. He said he couldn't remember what kind of exhaust it was that was on it. We've talked about the price he's asking for the bike quite a bit. However, I'm not too sure about buying the bike until it goes through some type of inspection at his local dealership where he originally bought the bike. Does this seem fair and should he be the one to pay for this service to sell the bike? Or is this something I should pick up if everything checks out and the bike is in good condition? Is the NADA pricing of $5,000 for this bike a good deal or a great deal considering the mileage? Of do you think there could be some negotiating room?

Thanks everyone for your input! Hoping one day I'll be able to ride one of these bikes again! I love mine!

I was going to need a chip and change out my intake.

need to?
no
Should you?
probably, depends on what exhaust you get.
I have a hawk, nothing but a wrench is needed, take off old, put on new, ride and enjoy.

he should def pay for the service, a simple bike inspection is not expensive. The buyer needs to know what they are getting into.

I paid 4800 for my 05 back in 2010, so yea 5000 for that kind of mileage seems right on, maybe on the cheaper side. But there is always room to negotiate. I would throw 4500 cash at him and see what he does.

hope you get it or another buell soon!

I'm with GTP. If he's that interested in selling it, he'll pay for it, if for no other reason than to have the inspection in-hand for the next buyer.

As far as a remap/intake swap, it sounds like someone was trying to make additional commission that day. Do you have to, no, but the bike will run TONS better if you do this. Looking at the price, that doesn't seem too out of line with what I have seen.

$5000 is fair. What i paid for my 08. As far as the exhaust thing, tuning the ECM would be ideal but not an absolute need. No special intake needed, there are air box mods or deletes that all aim towards better performance but the more you do the more beneficial "re-mapping" will be. Also a lot of info about DIY tuning here and its $30 for a cable free software to do so. Problem with taking the bike for a good inspection is most shops (motorcycle repair) arent familiar with Buell, and dont know what to look for.

This thread didnt take off but may give you some insight in what to look for

sorry to move away from the topic, but, i am new to this site and i want to post my 09 xb12r for sale. can some one please tell me where i go to post a new ad. i can figure out how to talk on other posts such as i am doing here but i cant figure out how to make my own. any way if it counts for anything i got a 09 xb12r with about 7k miles and i want 5500 bucks. bike is in north carolina but i live in ohio if thats easier for the buyer. 740 412 5344

Well I just inspected this bike and found out that it in fact has 25,000 miles on it not the 2,500 that the owner stated!! Needless so say I'm not spending $5,000 for a bike with that kind of mileage, needing a new front tire, and the owner not wanting to get it inspected for me! Thanks for the info everyone. I appreciate it!

Man, I'd be pissed if I traveled 200 miles to look at a bike and the mileage was off by a factor of 10.

FWIW, I use a Special Ops exhaust and K&N filter without any other mods and it works great!
