I bought my 2009 XB12R about a year and a half ago with 1000 miles on it. It now has about 3600. It still has the original tires and the tread looks fine. The only thing is that if I ride it throughout the week I have to put air in the tires every other day. I have gone over the rear tire and don't see any small punctures. Would they need to be replaced just because of their age?

Thanks

no. have you checked the schrader valve? remove each valve stem cap, get schrader tool, and check the inner schrader valve for tightness. then fill to 40psi, spit on your finger tip, rub the saliva over the tip of the valve and check for little bubbles.

While you're at it put some soapy water all around the bead area of the tire. See if you can spot a small leak.
With your tires losing pressure periodically there might be a little dirt or something that may have crept into the bead seat area.
Any cycle gear shop will perform this service for you free of charge. You just have to bring your wheels to them.
They did this for my front a while back when I was having issues getting the bead to seat after a tire change. My front kept losing pressure over night. They reseated the tire for me, aired it up and didn't charge me a thing.
I didn't buy my tires from them. They do this as a safety incentive for motorcyclists. Least that's what the cycle gear local to me told me.
Also, check that you're not leaking at the base of the valve stem itself.
