I live in Michigan and cant find any where if I can mount my plate vertically or not.

With my new drop and tail setup I may not be able to run my plate under the tail due to limited space so I am trying to find out if it is legal to do a side mounted vertical plate but cant find anything for the life of me.

Can I get some help?

easiest way to find out for your state is to call the highway patrol, its still legal in ohio, but I know alot of states are doing away with it and putting a nice fine on there too, so i'd call first

I asked a cop 2 weeks ago but he said he didn't even know.

I guess that is a good thing.

I just searched the Michigan vehicle code extensively and couldn't find anything other than the plate must be illuminated with a white light. If it were me I would call the Secretary of State as vehicle plates are their jurisdiction and ask them what the requirements are for plate location and for the vehicle code that would pertain to it. If you don't get the answer you were looking for just do it. If you were to get a ticket the officer has to write the code violation on the ticket. As long as you make it proper before the court date and show that you fixed it to the judge it will most likely get thrown out (unless the judge is a real prick)

I tried to call the SOS but the damn wait was over 15 minutes it said on the automated line, I guess it may just be faster to stop in there.

Burnouts and wheelies in the State Trooper's parking lot gets their attention real quick.

Just tryin to help :D:D:D
