My old lady rides a 2005 XB9R, yesterday i went out to fire it up so that she could ride it to bike night. But when i turned the key, nothing. no gage movement, no fan, nothing. My thoughts were that the last one to ride it must have left it in park and completely drained the battery so i hooked it up to my 1125R to jump start it. the gages immediately kicked off when i hooked the bike up to power. However it still would not start. and the moment i took the jumper cables off it went back to its dead state, i left the bike hooked up to a tender for 24 hours. but still nothing. not even a neutral light, My thoughts were maybe its a fuse but they are all good. it as strange the bike tried to come to life when it was hooked up to mine but wont give a sign of progress with the key. has anyone els found something similar? and what was needed to fix it?

Did it turn over with the jumper cables, but just not start, or no sign of starter action? I'd check the battery voltage first to rule out a bad battery first. it could be a bad battery, so the tender won't be able to get it back up to full charge.

put the 1125 battery in if you don't have a volt meter. if it starts, you know it's the battery. If you have cheap jumper cables, they may have too much loss to get the starter going.

no headlights? or tailight i had a bad problem with my ingition relays tho it wouldnt start becuse relays i still gotta oil sign on the dash and my running tail lighht turned on

no light or anything nothing on the dash. Yes when i had the jumper cables attached it tried to turn over. but as soon as i took the cables off nothing. My tender is blinking the same as if the battery was fully charged. i havent taken the batery out of my 1125 yet ill give it a try now. hate taking the tail section off though....

SUCCESS! my tender had me fooled. i figured since it was flashing as if the battery was fully charged that it was just that, fully charged. the moment i hooked up the 1125 battery the XB9 fired up with out hesitation.
thank for the help.... (mah old lady with no mechanical background said it was the battery as a gues.....) she is not going to let me live this one down.

does anyone have opinions on wether a battery from autozone is better then one from harley? or somewhere els?
