Im running stock ecm, not planning on buying a ebr ecm cause I'm almost broke. I do want to change my stock exhaust and installing a aftermarket. Is there a exhaust i could install without changing my ecm and still runs good?

Youd be fine with just about any exhaust as long as you dont start stacking other mods on like K&N or straight pipes. Also you dont HAVE to buy a race ECM your stock one is perfectly capable of being programmed and have a race map loaded into it.
Edit: i could be wrong on the reprogramming but pretty sure tuner pro RT could do it, if the resources are put there, i know more about the XB stuff

I run a Jardine rt1 on my xb9 with a k&n air filter and stock ECM. Runs fine, a few pops on decel but doesn't bother me. Ran it like that for 2 years now, never a problem.

I dont have an open air box mod

Others will probably have better advice tho, obviously tuning will always make it better

Thanks, on the input, I'm running a K N filter and I really don't like the way stock looks. Want something that looks cool with losing performance.

No, there is not. Budget for the ecm or plan on tuning it yourself with Tunerpro RT. The 1125 is programmed lean to meet EPA restrictions, adding _any_ free flowing exhaust to it will just make it worse.

To get cool looking and not lose performance, you're going to end up spending money.

Not sure if this meets your criteria for the cool factor, but it does make a lot more power than stock, ie; 15+ hp and 10+ ft/lbs of torque, pretty much everywhere. Unfortunately, it's not cheap either.

What?! Dean are you saying your stuff is expensive? Seriously if you want an aftermarket exhaust dean is correct save your pennies and go the tuning route. Just my two pennies worth on it.

interesting thread... My first 1125 I ran an fmf apex with an ebr ecm...bike seemed to have lost some low end grunt..but ran a hell of a lot better.

New 1125...using a Jardine rt5 and the pro tune 3 card...was a bit skeptical about the card when i picked the bike up from the seller..but after a few dyno sessions and a few changes @team nasty fast in SE Ohio three bike is acceptable for now.

Will be calling up dean when i lock up my new work contract though.

And to comment on deans lean from factory comment...my bike was pretty damn lean before the tune. I'm not a tuning guy... So dean, octopus..isn't the stock ecm supposed to learn to a point?

Yes, within the stock exhaust parameters. It will compensate for altitude, etc, but an exhaust change is too much. The front and rear cylinders get spread too far apart, you'll end up getting an AFV sys error, which is about a 25 point spread or more on the AFV (adaptive fuel value) and a check engine light. Doesn't matter who made the pipe, every aftermarket one will do it eventually.

Isn't there a way to hold the exaust servo open? Think I heard of someone doing this to get a slightly better sound without tuning. The price would be right. Till you could afford deans pipe .

I'm running a K&N with a new Keda muffler and it runs fine. Does pop a little on decel but has not been tuned yet. Its crossed my mine that the stock did it also but you just could'nt hear it. Bike seems faster especially above 3,000 rpms. ( as Dean said it would ). Very happy customer so far. Tune is forthcoming, its in the works..... There are so many pipes for sale. There should be something on the forum, ebay etc.
