Hey everyone, I aquired a 2005 firebolt with 1200 miles on it my boss gave it to me, pretty cool right? It has sat in a garage on a battery tender for years. Has there been any recalls or things I should do to make it a reliable bike, before the season starts back up? Obviously I will need to drain the tank and put fresh gas in it. I plan on dropping a k&n air filter and d&d exhaust in it before I take it out of retirement

there was a recall on the headlight housing. but that recall has expired. you can still get the parts from hd and might be able to get them for free. other wise i dont think there is. when you put the k&n and d&d on make use you got a good tune for it.

Hey chief thank you, is it because of the housing fades easily? I have read that going through this forum. Also when you mean I should get a good tune for it, do I need to purchase a dif ecm or to just find a shop that can tune the original that's already installed?

The reflective coating fades on the housings, yes. Most people stick a 35w HID kit in or more recently LEDs to make up for the lack of brightness.

For tuning, you can purchase the EBR (race) ecm, put the race fuel maps on your current ECM, or get a custom ECM tune.

Welcome to the club. I'm on my second '05 12R - very reliable and no recalls to worry about. Post a picture!

Thanks for the info! And thank you for the warm welcome, the bike is still in the garage untill I get the tags on that bad boy, but I will post some as soon as I get next to it. It's the red and gold color scheme, I'm coming from a gsxr 600, so I'm sure there will be some big differences once I get it out.
