I have been asking around on this website and others about putting new bars on my XB12S.
Finally went with the Protaper Contour low riser bars 29-22, precision engineering’s fat bar raiser, pazzo shorty levers and rizoma grips.
Not being mechanically minded I thought I had it all figured out until my more bike savvy mate helped me put this project together.
The sweep on these bars is about 1" compared to the stock which seem to be about 3 1/2" so needless to say some of the wiring came up short... at least on the first attempt anyway.
The left hand side on the contours is knurled so the grip wouldn't go on.... THANK YOU DREMEL.
After a little persuasive grinding, grip now fits.
Now after setting everything up on the left hand side the clutch cable was now very short but after a little re-routing it now fits.
The little plug for the starter relay that attaches to the clutch lever unit was spliced and fitted on the first attempt but found to be a useless move as under the speedo there was a lot of slack found on the second attempt.
The right hand side went together pretty easy no need to get new throttle/idle cables as I first thought.
So after a couple of try’s, it all fits, works and is a whole different bike in a very good way.
Here are some pics of the finished ordeal.
