Had a new drive belt fited about 350 miles ago and the bike feels and sounds a bit different.

Could this be due to the tight belt? It does feel very tight.....

I am sure I read some where that they are like that for about 1000 miles, Any comments?

There seems to be a high pitched sound coming fron the bike a lower speeds, could this also be the tight belt?

Any one else had this?[confused]

I had a newer belt and it made a slight noise for a little bit but nothing that would get me to worry, guess it might be something one would have to hear to really know what it is your hearing and how loud it is.

I also might add that when I lowered my bike I noticed it put more stress on the pulley and sprockets but never gave me any high pitch noises but did give a creeking when I move the bike around, like in a parking spot or my garage.

+1 xtrem, when I move mine around it makes noise as well. Check ur wheel bearings Adventure, mine made some squealing noises when the wheel bearing on the pulley side went out. Good luck!

Thanks for that:

It's not a really loud noise, just a new one. I do get the creaking as well.

I have just had my rear bearings done, so I think they should be ok.

I am thinking that it is just due to the preasure of a new belt. Every thing is a bit tighter than before.

I am not too worried! just wondered if any one else had the same thing.

I put a new one on at the start of the summer and it was really freakin' tight, but everything turned and operated properly so I was happy

if the bike feels like it's solid and riding well still, you're fine

the belts do take a while to wear-in to the teeth on the sprockets

i will be replacing mine this weekend ...fkn good for nothing stone. There is a replacement aftermarket bracket i have seen with a spring on it to help the belt adjust to foreign matter.May be a very near purchase.

Thanks Thorivola, I am a lot happier now that it seems normal.

Riding into work today the high pitched noise is gone and the bike feels fine. I have done about 500 miles since the new belt now. Still feels tight to the touch, but not as tight.

Ride on!
