I am pretty sure my rotors are fine. I would however like to get new brakes front and rear.

What are the best pads for city driving? I want an aggressive pad, but I don't do track days. Does anyone have a model number or link?

Also, what is the general process on bike brakes? Change pad, brake fluid and bleed brakes?

Thanks!

you can find these through amazon.com
FA140HH...Rear
FA345HH...Front
or these through HD dealers
Buell P/N's...
H0301.T...Rear
H0300.02A8...Front
good luck

I didn't like the noise or the warm-up required to get decent stopping distances from the sintered pads I was running with my last set of pads. Since I'm not out racing all the time, I don't need the ultimate stopping power that sintered provide when they're warmed up and ready.

So, this time around I went with ceramic composite pads instead. They've been great for my riding--mostly suburbs and cities with the occasional canyon run and weekends in the twisties.

Excellent stopping power even when they're cold and wet, and way more stopping once warmed up than I've ever felt comfortable exploring.

These.

I was turned on to them by a guy who does more riding than anybody I know. That, and he's got one of the nicest stables of modern machines around--an MV F4, Busa, 675, M1000, MS4RS--you get the point. He's going to buy what he likes. Don't let the lack of familiarity dissuade you; it's an excellent product. An ideal all-around pad that suits the style of riding I do on my Buell really well.

Tad I havent had any noise or problems with mine at all! I like having the stopping power when needed! Racing or not but I am a big guy I wanna make sure this small bike stops me!!! HAHAHA

Kuntreeboy--my first post wasn't worded very clearly. The sintered pads stop like mad. In fact, I think they provide the best overall stopping power, and for sure, they do fine when they're cold.

What I noticed was the metal on metal sound that emanated from the front disc, particularly when I needed to move the bike and it wasn't running, reminded me of hearing cars that had were driving with worn out pads and the mounts were scraping on the discs. It wasn't loud, but a very unpleasant sound.

And there is honestly a very big difference in cold stopping power, particularly when wet. The sintered seemed to have 60% of their stopping power when cold, but maybe 110% of the ceramic brakes when both are warmed up.

I'm 6'2" and about 220 right now, so not a small guy either. Not bagging on sintered, just saying that in my experience, the ceramic composites have been a better choice--better cold/wet performance, quieter, and also--damn near no dust whatsoever.

So do we think...

5432HH 98-02 Brake Pads Front Nissin EBC Sintered HH - $39.95

#5433HH Brake Pads, Rear, EBC HH - $36.95

Is the way to go for me? It won't chew up my rotor?

I understand Tad I am 6'6" 340 so I am a large fella!!! HAHAHAHAH I wanna make sure my fat ass isnt lying on the ground!! Lol

Dynasty those are what I ordered and I like them very much? I guess that is gonna be a personal call on you? I havent seen any damage to my rotors or my buddies who ride with them?

HA! 6'6"?! Holy shit! You are a big dude. I'm pretty accustomed to being one of the tallest, if not *the* tallest guy in the room. 6'6" is a pretty big difference though.

Sweet, thanks a bunch Kuntreeboy.

As far as install goes. Just slap them on and bleed the brakes?

I never bled the fronts? But I never had to remove the lines? There is a write up or a video on the DIY thread I think?

I also use the EBC, HH pads.
I drive 85 miles, daily, rain or shine. These pads are better than any other pads I've used over the many years I've been driving bikes.
I've got them on my, XB12S, 1125CR and my old Yamaha R1.

But I'm only 6', 250....!

Mike

I ordered the EBC HH for front and rear. Also bought some Michelin Pilot Power 2cts!

Out of curiosity, how many miles you guys getting out of these pads?

Don't know, never checked...don't really care.
I'd much rather pay a litle more for equipment I like rather than pay less for pads the don't work quiet as well or...maybe last a longer.

Mike

gto my last set at auto zone of all places. dont even think they had a brand name on them lol. anyhows it was less then 40 bucks fro both sets adn they work fine.
