Hi, just got myself an 08 Ulysses and it needs some tyres. I only ride on road, in all weathers for both commuting and leisure (love the UK weather) and it currently has Pirelli scorpion trail's on it. Should I stick with these? Or can anyone recommend something better? Help please!

Thanks

The scorpion trails are great tires IMO, I run them and am very happy with them. I've got an STT and wanted to keep the occasional fire road/any road option open with the bike but I push them in the canyons 99% of the time and they are perfect.[up]

agree with lowkey and for what it's worth....if you only plan on road riding as you stated and are a bit frugal....Shinko tires are great deal for not much money. they are yokohamas made in korea. don't know if available in the UK but here in America they can be found for about $170 for the pair.

I ride road only with my uly and switched to Pirelli Angel ST's they have a little better road manors than the original scorpions did, but they aren't as good on gravel, which I don't ride much ne way so I'm okay with the trade off.
They seem to be wearing well too, I think I paid 225 for the pair if I remember right...

Let me clarify that the bike originally had the scorpion sync's when I got it and they look more aggressive for dirt than the scorpion trails do, are you sure those aren't the ones you have? The Trails replaced the sync's in Pirelli's lineup. Only reason I suggest these as one of the best options for you is I imagine your roads are sometimes dirty and you want to ride in inclement weather? You could fine better pure street tires but I think you would only see them outperform with ideal road/weather conditions, whereas the Scorpion trails will be great for any conditions you may see while riding.

Cheers for the advise chaps. It's definitely got the trails on it, it has been owned from new by my dad, I've just bought it off him, and as far as I'm aware he's always kept the same tyres on it. I'll be riding in all conditions, so maybe the trails are a good call still, been reading that the angels are good, as well as the Michelin road pilot 2/3. I'm after decent road holding along with some decent life out of them. I ride fairly hard, but a lot of the riding will be done commuting around the city.. I am trying to avoid squaring the tyre off prematurely.
