Hello everyone,

Today I am a new Buell owner and a new motorcycle owner at the same time! I purchased an '04 XB12S with 900 miles on the clock, red/black/gold. Luckily I have a dirt bike so that helped me feel a lot more comfortable operating the bike and I cruised it around for a couple hours today already. It was really weird turning on the street at first but I got used to it. I'm still very cautious of other vehicles and haven't ventured onto the freeway yet. I'm content with just zipping around town. Man it sure is a fun!

Anyway, I've been lurking for a week or two just reading up on information on the bike. I'm planning to do the 1k mile maintenance soon, the breather mod, headlight mod and cheesegrater elimination.

Ride safe!
Gabe:)

Welcome to the Forum.

How much did you get the new bike for?

But I also am curious. An '04 with only 900 miles just doesn't sound right.

Not trying to jinx you, but let's just hope it really doesn't have 59,900 miles on the speedo.

Ride safe and keep the rubber side down ;)[up]

to the Forum and the "Buell" family. Have fun with your new addiction and Gear up. A lot less forgiveness with the pavement than the dirt.

Wow 04 with 900 miles!!! You are off to a great start. All the info you will need is on this site.Ride safe and send pics....

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I was a bit skeptical about the 900 miles as well but the lady I bought it from said she rode her Sportster instead and it just sat in the garage. I don't know much about bikes but it looks brand new to me and everyone I've showed it to asks if I bought it new. I should run a carfax on it just to see. I paid $5k for it.

The bike also came with a brand new set of yellow plastics!

Thanks Buell_Cru for the link.

I have a helmet and gloves for now and hope to order a mesh Icon jacket soon. I'd hate to slide on the pavement, rash from the dirt is bad enough...can't imagine the street. Yikes!

Here are a few quick pics I snapped in the garage:

Dont worry G Force, Got my 04 with 700 miles about 2k miles ago (4 months) and she runs perfect. I might catch some crap for this, but I changed the oil myself in both holes, and did a through check of the bike but did not get the 1k service done. Still perfect. No issues at all. I will get the 5k done professionally as long as I don't see anything wrong with belt tension or hear anything odd. Also Keeping check on the primary chain. Hopefully I am alright.

Same Color, Same year. You are now my closest brother here :)

Welcome G Force!

Nice bike! SAme exact bike as mine too!

Here's a pic of mine when I bought it back in April for $4700 with 3200 miles. I've since chopped the tail, installed shorter LED signals, put on bar end mirrors and got rid of the belt guards. I'd say you did great picking that up for $5k!![up] Enjoy and be safe!!

Alright! Got some siblings on here! I'm going to order the 1k service fluids and parts on Monday and tear into it myself. I need to set a service manual though and I'm sure I'll be good.

50dro, you bike must look great. I want to do those same things soon to mine as well and give it a cleaner look.

Man this is one heck of a bike for $5k. I'm so happy with it and would be kicking myself if I had spent 15k+ on a cruiser. It's so easy to ride and is great in the city. I must admit that the wind does beat the crap out of you and highway speeds. I guess that's what they make the taller windsreen for but I doubt I'll do enough highway riding to warrant that purchase.

I have a larger backpack ready for the work commute on Monday. I was thinking about getting the Buell tank bag but not sure if if it's worth $100?? I carry a laptop, gym clothes, and a lunchbag...all of which will be a tight fit in the backpack. :/

I must admit that the wind does beat the crap out of you and highway speeds.

You'll soon learn to love it my friend. Especially on medium/long night rides with an ipod on up the coast or HWY.

Awww I love it (wait, was that an orgasm?) :D[up]

Haha, sounds like a great ride. I'm not sure I feel comfortable yet riding with headphones. I can't even ride dirt with them in cause I seem to lose focus so I probably shouldn't try it on the street bike!
