i would like a new exhaust or to mod my stock exhaust om my 2010 xb12 for some more noice
but can i leave the ECU stock?

I modified my exhaust and kept the ecm stock and it ran fine. A few months later I put a kandn filter on her and she had a few hiccups at low rpm but nothing major. I recently installed race maps with ecm spy and she runs and sounds like a beast! I did a write up and video of how I did my exhaust if you want to check it out. It sounds really nice and it didn't cost me much to do it

i have a open airbox mod with a k&n filter and the breather mod to so i guess line Will hiccup to if i mod my exhaust right?

and are the hiccups always on low rpm or only when the engine is cold??

Sure I will be "fine" but it's not good for your engine. Tune it and you will see a night and day difference

If I remember right ,the ECM tells the engine when to spark and breathe so,if your engine has stock exhaust with restriction then you install another with less restriction, then it requires a different air/fuel ratio so in my opinion a mapping is called for, you don't want to burn a valve due to improper timing.

if you change one you'll be fine, but if you change both you'll want to tune it.
