Just installed a new fairing and windscreen on my Blast. Just wanted opinions, I am still thinking about one with modern headlights. Also, it currently has a Kirker exhaust system on it. It's way too loud and wakes up my neighborhood even after packing the silencer with new material its just too obnoxious. Does anyone know of a muffler that is closer to the stock sound? Anyone looking to buy this exhaust cheap or trade for a quieter exhaust let me know. :):)

Fluffy,

That is really a good looking Blast. What kind of fairing is that, and where did you purchase it?

And how did you paint the body work?

Kenny G

EMGO 70-52501, off of ebay, but you can find them all over the internet. The Paint is Dupont Hot Hues Perplexed Pink, No poblem painting the plastic, just have to have a rough sand (around 400) and use a plastic adhesive (like bulldog) before primer is applied, and flexable additive in the clear.

I just changed my exhaust from a Kerker to a Jardine. The Jardine is a lot more tame than the Kerker but I'm starting to miss my Kerker. Loud pipes save lives. :D

Holes and mounts seem to be straightforward, bt it did need a lot of trimming on the windshild for a proper fit.

Fluffy,

What kind of tools did you use to trim the windshield?

Kenny G
PS That is about the best looking Blast that I have seen for a while.

KennyG, a dremel should do the job. I bought one of these fairings and put it on and it didn't need to be trimmed much so I didn't even bother.. It would rub just a bit when the handlebars were turned all the way in. I decided not to use the fairing because it blocked out my miniature aftermarket turn signals and I didn't want to add extenders to them.

Kenny,

Thanks, I have a firebolt, and I built the Blast for my girlfriend, But I really like the way it turned out, and its a fun little bike to ride. I had to use it to commute to work while my car was down, and I think it's the best bike for that purpose I have ever ridden!

As for the windshield, I used a fiber cut off wheel, you want to use something like that rather then any kind of a saw, as the plastic is a little brittle and can crack from the saw. She (fluffy) has fallen in the driveway on the thing, so I have painted it orange, and think I'm goiong to have to sell it, as she won't even try to ride it again!

Neal,

Where are you located?

I would buy your Blast just to get the paint job.

Are the "White Stripes" around the edges paint or tape?

Kenny,

I'm in Asheville, NC. And the stripes are tape, but I put 4 coats of clear over them, so they are now, part of the paint job!:D
