Hi to one and all,

I got my 04 firebolt a couple weeks ago, i traded it for a VN800 which i in turn traded for an Aprila Pegaso, so I'm moving in the right direction :D
Its got 7500 miles, lovely little thing she is, except was a Cat C, but hey ho she's pretty and i like.

Couple of issues I've got with it and I'm sure you've all heard them before, but please bear with me, I'm no spanner man i just get on the things and ride.

It won't start with side stand down, so I'm guessing the switch is shot, no biggy just get a new and replace i guess.
when clutch is pulled in neutral light is showing in all gears, so could it be the neutral switch sensor thingy ma bob? release the clutch light goes out.
its a bugger to start, its idle is shocking when cold, i have to sit on it (side stand issue) and give it a gentle handful until its warmed up, shes warm no issues at all.
lastly the clock, every time i switch it on the clock reads 1:00? am i going mental? or is there a set your reset combination?

Cheers
Lee

1-sidestand safety inter-lock switch readily available and inexpensive. replace it if in doubt. to trouble-shoot remove the 2 wires and jump them with a single wire completing the circuit. now see if symptoms disappear. if so faulty switch.
2-have seen a few extremely rare occasions where the clutch outer cable wore thru exposing inner cable and inner cable lying against a ground. this caused the clutch lever and cable to intermittently act as a ground causing neutral light oddities and starting issues. it is very rare but check entire length of your cable. then replace neutral switch. inexpensive....located behind front belt pulley...challenging to replace with pulley in place but do-able. before replacing check to be sure the switch wire is in good shape and tight to the switch terminal.
3-warm idle curb speed should be 1050rpm or close to that. if not the cold start idle is very erratic.
4-set clock to proper time. start bike and let idle. now check clock time again. did it default to 12:00 or 1:00? if so your battery is marginal and should be replaced. prior to that check cables and terminals.

the issues aren't the end of the world and i may just tolerate them for now, as I'm in the UK riding time is getting less and less this time of year, so could let them run until it gets a service in the spring. many thanks for prompt reply though. cheers

Elise Em, welcome to the forum, a lot of good info on this site, follow what Lunatic said, his posts are aways very helpful and detailed. Have a nice Holiday!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that how the side stand switch is supposed to work? Remove the sensor and jump the wires to be able to start at any time.

The neutral light, before spending any money on sensors, make sure the diode in the fuse box is in the correct way. the box shows the correct way to instal it.

TPS reset and idle speed adjustment is probably needed

Clock, like John said, probably time for a battery

cole: will start with stand down or up...but if placed in any gear when running with stand down the neutral light circuitry triggers the switch circuitry telling it the bike is NOT in neutral and that is when it stalls the motor.

Awesome, I didn't know that. I have only been around one 03 with the switch and it wouldn't start with the stand down. So I assumed that was how they worked.
