That's not really HDR...that's just messing with the HDR sliders on whatever photo editing software he's using to get that effect. True HDR is completely different.

Miami78 is correct - that is not HDR; it's called Tone Mapping. Very commonly mistaked as HDR, but I only took one exposure, not multiple...for starters.
