Hey everyone, just wanted to stop by and say hello. Noob on the forum and Noob on buell's. Just picked up the fine lady in the picture. This bike is totally different from anything I've ever ridden but in a good way. You guys have a great forum here and I'm glad I stumbled into it. I spent all last weekend cleaning her up and doing a couple of other things including adjusting the primary chain, clutch adjustment, lubed the cables, fluid changes and replacing the battery not to mention the removal of a birds nest of wiring the previous guy left from his damn neon lights.
Quick question though, I don't know if it's just me but the front brake seems very grabby. Any recommendations on this? I'm thinking of replacing the pads plus cleaning up the rotor and caliper.
Anyways thanks for having me.

Screw it! lol here is a link to the picture I can't seem to remember how to load it on a forum.

Welcome to buellxb.com

Welcome to the board. You'll find a great group of people here. Honestly one of the absolute best forums I've been on.

Welcome! Feel free to ask any questions you have. Lots of knowledge here and lots of willingness to share it.

Please have a look at our site for some accessories you may be interested in...

PS - You may want to consider the OEM frame pucks. A small nick in the tank/frame can send these bikes to the salvage yard in a hurry!

Thanks everyone for the welcome.
50dro I was actually looking at those today, I'm definitely looking into those.

Welcome!
That's the first time I've heard 'grabby' to describe the XB's front brake. It definitely has a tendency to glaze over which results in a 'pulsating' effect. That's not what you're experiencing?

The ZTL design means that the front wheel's quite a bit lighter than a standard design would be. This results in less rotating mass which translates, among other things, into more effective braking.

Perhaps if you're coming off older bikes, or cruisers, you may be accustomed to having a little less stopping power, but the XB is generally regarded as having a reasonably linear & powerful front brake.

Welcome to the forum. There's a wealth of good info on this forum [up] she's a purty one. 02 or 03?

Get some new pads, bleed the lines/replace fluid (assuming you haven't yet), shop around for a right side air scoop, and get some thicker gel grips. Some of the cheapest most rewarding modifications I did for my xb. .

Btw, what exhaust is that? Hard to tell from that angle but it seems to be too short to be a stock setup.

go cytosis thanks for the welcome, the brake feels like it doesn't matter how light I squeeze the lever it's like hitting a wall. I'm coming off 600SS (Honda and Kawasaki). There is also tons of dive from the front end, I will be adjusting the suspension to my weight and that will probably lessen.

heagachongoose it's an 03, actually already installed the right side air scoop and also new grips. That's a Jardine exhaust. Thanks for the welcome [up]
