just got my 03 xb9s today and have a couple questions. the previous owner gave me oil and a filter to change the oil but the oil is mobil 1 0w-40 which i think is the wrong oil but not sure. what kind of oil would you guys recommend and also the bike has 4,200 miles, is there anything else i should go over. thanks

Welcome!! Let's see some pics! That's EXTREMELY LOW mileage for the year! You might check the tires for rot! :D

Most run 20W-50 in both holes and most chose Amsoil or Royal Purple synthetic.

If we can help you with some accessories for your new toy please check out our site and let us know!

Welcome . If the bike sat a while , after fluid changes and tire checks , check belt , brakes - including fluids , maybe change that also ( up to you ) . Enjoy the Bike !

I have never heard of that oil used in these bikes. I would not use it. Get the proper stuff...

what mark said plus that weight oil is what triumph recommends in their bikes for very cold weather riding...not recommended for XB buells. use 20-50 wt. in both motor and primary and if you want to get a good quality filter for 3 bucks go to your local shit-mart and look up a 2007 and up toyota yaris with 1.5 liter motor. it is the same filter as our buells. any quality 20-50 motorcycle specific oil will work great in motor and primary and i prefer castrol act-evo. readily available, reasonably priced, a wonderful motorcycle specific oil. some on here even run shell rotella T in their buells.
