I know this has been discussed before but its getting about time to think about new tires for this season. Everyone has their own opinions and different tire compounds are for different driving conditions. I am looking to get a set of new tries for this season and looking for some suggestions. I am an average rider that would like good grip for turns and winding roads. 05 xb12r

Thanks in advance for any help!:)

My friend Kevin rides a 1000RR and runs Michilin Road 2's. He would go though Pilots in about 3000 mile (he rides two up and hard) and he gets about 11,000 on the road 2's.
I will be changing to the Road 2's has I have 4000 and a flat spot across the middle (lots of hwy riding).

I ride with Avon Storms ( i might e the only ho does) and so far i put roughly 1500 miles on them and they still look damn near new. I really like them alot and I tend to ride a little hard so they have been put through the test. I ride through alot of twistys and the rain dosent scare me much I really recomend them.

My buddy seems to like these on his xb

Wow, those Shinkos would be great on a track & sunny riding, but bad news in the rain. No treading to channel water out.

The Michelin pilot road and road 2 are the best tires hands down. I have them on my Ss and love them, they far exceed the Dunlop 208's that were stock. Granted that's not saying much, but I like the pilot road 2's better than any tire i've ridden on, regardless of bike they were on. I know different people and bikes yield different mileage, but I believe the pilot road's and road 2's are the best value dollar per mile even with Michelin's higher initial price over others.

I have the Pirelli Rosso's and love them. They're pretty pricey but I just found a shop that you could pay $150 for a lifetime family sponsorship and you get everything at 5% over cost. My tires will go from $280 for the rear down to $186. Besides bragging a little I guess the point I was trying to make is don't settle for crap due to cost. Get yourself a good tire so that you feel much safer on the road and look for a good deal while doing so.

I just got Conti Attacks Race in the front sport in the rear and i must say i am extremly pleased they are also good looking tires.

I have tried a few sets of tires and the pirelli scorpions were the best, by far. they work in any weather, even snow, and have great dry grip too. I think it is the perfect tire for a street bike.
