Hey guys, I'm new here as the title states. I'm from the central Maine area and just got my motorcycle license this past weekend. Went yesterday and put a deposit on my new 07 Firebolt XB9R. It's got ~5,500 miles and is stock other than what I believe is a Jardine GP1 exhaust.

I am new to Buells so any advice on small/free mods that I can do would be great, I'm planning on getting some HIDs ordered today.

Welcome! My brother has that same color theme as yours! Free mods can begin as easy as removing reflector/ warning stickers. :D

Nice bike! Welcome to your new addiction

Some helpful Links

Thank you for the thread link, looks like I've got a lot of reading to do!

Beauty!! Welcome aboard !

What part of central Maine?

Thanks, I live in Old Town specifically, near Bangor.

I like this color combo a lot! I was thinking about removing those reflectors, didn't know if many others had... looks like it's common the more I search.

Congrats on the bike and licence! not many Mainer's hear. I'm down in washington, about an hour south of you. Any time you want to hook up, get ahold of me. I'll send you a message with my cell #. Take care, Be safe. -Arthur-

Nice bike, get some sliders on there. Click the 5-0 dro link to the right of your picture.

I have a friend that lives in Ellsworth. And another one of my friends lives in auburn, he has a vfr800. One of his coworkers rides a red lightning though.

Thanks Kona & welcome Bart! [up]

yes, most people rip the reflectors off almost immediately...i think I did so before my first ride? :p

If we can help, please let us know!

Welcome.

Do NOT use a torque wrench on oil drain plugs. Use your judgement of feel and DO NOT use a torque wrench on the drain plugs.

If you use a torque wrench on your drain plugs and strip them you will be in a club of many members.

p.s. Oil drain plugs= NO TORQUE WRENCH :D

Nice bike BTW

Thank you! I would definitely be interested in a ride sometime, I'll be on the look out for that message.

Thanks for the welcome. The reflectors will be coming on first thing when I pick up the bike!

Thank you! I'm new to the sport bike industry but not to motorcycles, I've had dirt bikes all my life so I at least feel rather comfortable on the bike. I am however, going to be taking it easy for the first little while until I get used to the bike.

Good info. I spoke with my brother last night who has a Ulysses and he told me the same thing, I'll be sure to remember that.

Congrats! Sharp looking bike!

Thank you!

For hid use ddmtuning! Good and affordable I have 55w 8k

That's who I was planning on using, I have two sets of their Slims in my truck and they've been going strong for 2 years now. I'll probably be running 55w 5000k's.

Welcome to the board! To look for mods, because I know there are MANY, go to Google and type in "buellxb" mods without the quotes. You will get LOTS of results. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me or any of the other guys here on the board. A popular mod is the breather reroute mod.

Here is a quick pic.

I run dual low beams, courtesy of a fellow bueller giving me their low beam diffuser.

I will post up a pic of it facing the wall tomorrow.
