hello everyone names john fortna. i am new to the buell world. looking for some info on a few things. i just got an 03 buell firebolt. looking to learn a new hobby. first bike.

what i would like to know is how hard is it to do the bearings front and rear? what are the best bearings to get for these?

thanks!

Welcome John!

Make sure your gas cap is on correctly, or Oh9bolt will be all over you! He's convinced if your cap is on backwards, your gas gets less miles per gallon! :D:D:D

oh9bolt is a good dude! just messing around!

I just purchased all new bearings from HD in Dallas because I had a list of other items I needed, but it seems as though quite a few purchase them from allballs. try ebay to find them if you don't want to go to the stealership.

Welcome john! Somebodies gonna say it if i dont, pictures or it didnt happen!!!

And turn your gas cap around, i do it cause eventually oh9bolt will notice and itll tear at him until i turn it. No but really hes very proactive with the forum and full of helpfull info. Hes also an expert at crashing, one day i hope not to live up to my name.

I would post one with it upside down just to make oh9's skin crawl and get him worked up.....:D

You guys are funny! :D

Welcome to the forum! Please try to support the forum sponsors when you have the option (see right margin for links...bottom on mobile). If we can help, please let us know.

I chose SKF bearings direct from a bearing manufacturer using cross referenced part numbers. Much better than the Chinese stuff on there from the factory.

Good luck & let's see those pics! :p

Hey 50, he's not gonna be able to buy parts from that link....... :p
Welcome to the club casper, get ready to open your wallet, because when you see what some of these guys are doing to their buells your gonna wanna try and catch up.... :)

Welcome to the forum, the bearings are one of the few things I haven't done so I'm unfortunately no help there.

I've heard great things about allballsracing though.

You'll find out fast we have a different group of people here, these guys will actually help you out, and we're usually pretty quick to respond.

The bearings you want are SKF 6005 2RS1 for the front, and SKF 6006 2RS1 for the rear.. these have the better black seals, upgraded grease and higher rpm limits.. Stay away from the chinese equivalent with the same part# they will not last...

Welcome to the club!
