Just purchased a 07 XB9R. Beautiful bike. There's a couple of things I want to change. One is this part. I guess the original piece here broke and this T adapter was used. I've looked through the 03 parts catalog and don't see what the original part would be. Can someone help me to identify? Thanks in advance!

The black hose is a breather hose and the header sometimes melts the hose so the po who had the bike put a tee there to put the hose back together. Just my thoughts.

Thanks rchuff for the reply. I've seen tons of pics and info about how to change the breather but I find little information understanding how it originally routed. The parts and service manuals don't explain it well. I'd like to clean this piece up. I guess I'll keep trying my Google-Foo for answers.

Thanks again.

You really don't have to Google it just get enough hose so you can reroute it . (No big deal) Just keep it away from the exhaust. How you see it is how it went.

Rchuff is right it's a breather. Just so you don't get confused, the breather in your picture is a trans vent. It doesn't get talked about much. The breathers most talked about here and being routinely rerouted are the PCV valve breathers on top of the engine.

If the T visually bugs you, go get a 3/8" barbed straight hose connector. Toss out the T and put the hoses together end to end. I'm guessing the PO just happened to have a T and used it. No reason for a T there. You can just use zip ties on the hoses around the connector. There is no pressure in it, no need for hose clamps.

Good luck with it.

Great insight guys. Thanks for the part number. Even better!

Here's where that hose ends up. Is this the original location?
