Good Morning/Afternoon (that is depending on geographical location) folks,

First and fore most i'd like to say Hello, as you can tell i'm new to this community. I've been lurking for a little while trying to read as much as i can but there comes a point in time you might as well say 'Hello'.

On Saturday i had the luxury of taking out a XB9 on a test ride for an hour (better than nothing). Regardless of an hour being pathetically small i found the bike comfortable compaired to the GSXR and CBR's i've ridden. Loved the torque, loved the noise the standard pipes made. Stands out from the crowd and there isn't many about in glorious england it would seem.

Overall i found the bike to match my expecation and i'm now considering buying one from new. However, i would like to get my facts correct and therefor would like some words of Wisdom.

What are the must do mods you'd suggest for a XB9? I gathered the usual suspects are tail tidy, getting rid of the mirrors and replace with respectable bar ends.

Unfortunately due to my works superior web filters if i try and search for answer i get filtered due to 'Ebay'. Tad annoying i must confess! However if i'm supplied a glorious link it's fine - go figure!

Many thanks (in advance)

- Steve

Welcome to the Forum Steve. :D[up] Crankcase Breather-reroute is a pretty standard mod. Lots of info & links to be found here: New Bueller Info. Great to have you on the Board!

Welcome to the Forum. If interested in purchasing a XB9 with many of the mods already done and completed, than you may want to take a look at mine. Click here

Thank you for the welcome.

Stevenc150 - Is the Re-route a must do thing? Reason i ask is because i'm not exactly the worlds best at DIY. Also i take it such a mod is for newer and older XB models?

Also i take it mods such as a K&N filter, Slip on exhaust etc mean you have to re do the ECM?

Please forgive newbie like questions, i just need clarification. Rather have my facts correct than assume.

Regards,

- Steve

Re-route is a simple mod that you can do yourself if you wish. But no, it's not a must-do, even though it keeps your intake sucking clean air instead of recycled crankcase gases.

'08+ bikes can handle exhuast or intake mod with a TPS reset.

A lot of the older ECM bikes require remapping after intake or exhuast mod. Though in either case, a custom map is the best thing you can do for your bike long-term.

Good stuff, thank you for the input and hopefully watch this space! I might have a Buell sooner rather than later! :D[up]

Stevenc150 - More input required from that Buell mind of yours. I've decided to put a K&N filter + remus exhaust on for the usual reasons.

However I wouldn't be happy running ECMspy for remapping as i believe a newbie shouldn't touch such a thing. Would a dealer sort it out (for a price of course)?
