nice, we have the same taste in bikes. I got my red 09 Scg two weeks ago:D. I also did the headlight mod, removed the belt guards and got bar end mirrors. I want to put lights under the air box cover as well. I also shortened the front turn signal stalks and removed the rear reflectors. I installed strips of black reflective tape to keep the visibility there. you cant see them during the day unless I point them out. I also removed the passenger pegs/brackets to clean up the back a bit. they are great bikes and a blast to ride. have fun on it and stay safe.

lighting the tank was pretty easy 1drtybstrd, you want some pics on how i did it, and what i used let me know i'll email em to ya. how'd u shorten the fron turn signals? i'd like to shorten mine up till i get around to buying new ones, and i love the look with the passenger brackets removed, by my girl would be pissed if i took em off lol

That'd make a great DIY thread if you wanted to share. ;)

probably will make a diy thread about the tank lighting, once i get it all 100% squared away, have a few small details i want to do to it before i call it complete, if anyone is interested i can show what is done so far

My wife is in the process of getting her license and she wants to get a sportster iron. she already has her temps and we are going together to take the MSF course which I highly recommend everyone to do.
To shorten the front turn signals first remove the fly screen. then remove the nuts that hold the stalks in place. remove the screw that holds the lense in place and unplug the wires. remove the turn signal and you will see that the center section is seperate and there is a threaded rod that runs through it. It is best if you have a tap for the next part but a nut with the same threads works. cut the longer threaded end off and use the tap (or nut if need be) to clean the threads up.(if you have a tap use it to make the piece longer by running it down the rod a bit further). reinsert it back into the turn signal (I used a dab of red lock-tite on it) and run the wires back into the light and reconnect. reasseble light and install.the extra wire just sits behind the flyscreen.
http://www.customdynamics.com/hyper_led_accent_lights.htm I was looking at these lights for under my airbox cover. very flexible and bright so you can form them to what ever shape you like. keep us posted as to any new mods you do:)

just wanted to add a few pics of my bike with the shorter turn signals.

I still had the rear reflectors on and old mirrors in these photos but it looks a lot nicer without them.

I can't seem to find the lights i used online, but i picked them up from autozone, flexible strip light like the ones drty posted a link to, but they are only about an 1/8 inch thick, and the lights are part of the strip and dont stick out off the strip like the ones he linked, i'll post a pic when i get time
