Sooooooo nice.... please, can you give us some info about the chain transmission mod?? Thanks
@dr.makoki , @BlackGoldXB , Thanks!
Here are links to what I used:
I find the chain more reliable on and, more importantly, offroad. I'm not afraid of maintenance : )

And like @Heavy18 said, chains provide for the least power loss to the ground.

Happy New Year, Everyone!

That's hilarious. Those headlights make me think of this cartoon. View attachment 19369
Yes sir. You nailed it. Seems like the doppelganger of that cartoon, which is not attractive to me. I've been debating LED "stock" look, or fab up something (stacked Ducati look), HD Fat Bob light, single Jeep headlight etc. Just haven't time due to maintaining a small fleet of vehicles. :)

The bike had all kinds of fastener defects etc so it took time to change all fluids, clutch cable, front and rear wheel bearings, fork oil, plugs, wiring return to stock (fan was hot fed to ignition key), decal removal, new tires and so on. I also removed the passenger pegs and brackets since my wife won't ever ride with me and that's our agreement to keep the chicks from trying to get on the back. Crazy what women will do. Like getting on the back of a bike of someone you don't know (who is wearing a full face helmet) seems like it could go badly...

I generally try to read through the forum and see some of y'all are seriously hard core. This bike is second most fun to ride I've owned. Most fun was an MV Agusta Brutale 910S. Redline at 12,900, 5 valves per cylinder, fuel injection, 6 speed. That was amazing, but would have killed me. I'm happy to stick with this obsolete beast for now. Wife would love for me to sell it.

I can never lane split again. See how ridiculously huge the bags are!?!

Wider than your truck! LMAO

But Cooter you make a solid point - and when I'm commuting on it I take the bags off... However even the handlebars are too wide for my comfort when lane filtering (which is the extent of what we can do in Utah). Check the pic below, there is a little bit of depth perception but the handlebars are about as wide as the bags!

The stock Harley bags are stupid wide, I modified some banged up Uly bags to mount on mine (I have soft bags for adventure rides). I raised my Uly cases up so I didn't have to go outside the muffler - it's a great setup for weekend trips 2-up with my wife. But still wide... Last pic is next to my buddy's with the HD Sport bags, those cost a cool $1K while mine were $40 in materials, HA!

Oh, and these bikes are too expensive - when new. Check the used market, they are not holding resell at all. I picked mine up for cheap and will have to sell it cheaper still. (I guess cheap is a relative term... $10-12k-ish?)

I've been very interested in the Pan-Am, but I'll likely never convince myself to part with the money. For far less, I was able to pick up a Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX 1200. It may not be as good or as modern, but it will do all the same stuff reasonably well, and maintenance is a piece of cake.
