First of all, Hello!

I just bought a 2000 X1. The shift lever won't tighten flush with the tube frame because the washer "shim" is worn down. This constantly causes missed shifts from first to second. I've installed a thicker steel washer with the proper inside diameter in place of the failing plastic/carbon one but the outer diameter is too large and when fully tightened causes the lever to stick. My solution idea at this time is to machine the washer down to its correct size, but I would rather buy an OEM part replacement. Where can I find a x1 parts catalog so that I can identify the part number and correct the issue properly?

Thanks!

I got those bushings from that ebay seller that NwRider pointed out. I thought he was cutting new bushings, they showed up in buell parts baggies Ill have to see if I can find the baggie and get a part number off it. OH and they worked out GREAT!! Came with two new bronze bushings and enough shims to get both the brake and shift sides done up proper.

They are a Buell part!??!? Do share that p# if you have it. Probably cheaper elsewhere.

My shifter is almost annoyingly wiggly now.

Ya they where a Buell part, surprised me to! Damit I must of pitched the baggie all I can find are the extra shims I didnt need.

ok hold the phone!! NWR what year is your bike? I just looked back through my feedback on ebay to find what I bought, The listing you show looks like its for the later style shift arm and it shows different bushing than what I bought, I have the boomerang style shift arm. So even if I did have the part # it may not be what your looking for. the later style shift arm looks like it uses two bronze bushings and they are diferent than the brake side, my 99 bike used a single bushing and its the same one on both the shift and brake side. so keep that in mind when searching!!

01 with updated shifter... come to think of it Maelstromwar should need the kit you have. I think they updated the shifter in 01.

ya I just found pics of your bike NwR, we dont have the same bushings on the shift side. I checked American-Torque on ebay and he dosnt have anymore of the older style bushings like mine.

So now the question is? Which shift lever does Maelstromwar have on his bike? is it the old style or has it been updated to the new style along the way somwhere?

He talks about it not tightening up against the "frame" so i have to assume he has the older style still that pivots at the foot peg like mine does.

Bummer.. well.. I tried... At least I can still get mine sorted out. ;)

If you come up with part number share it with maelstrom. Maybe its still avail from HD.

Wow thank you all for the responses!

Seems to be the "old style" shift lever. It does in fact pivot about the foot peg. Should I go ahead and replace the entire lever? Pics coming!

Thanks again!

Pardon the dirt, I've been out riding a lot.

NO you dont need to replace the whole lever, I only did on mine because it was broke from the owner before me droping the bike. Im still trying to find a source for bushings because the place I got mine has no more.
