I scooped up a 2004 xb12r last week for a pretty decent price. The bike has 70,xxx on but was rebuilt about 5k ago i was told. As with any used bike there were some things that needed tlc and things i didnt like. After taking care of most of the little things i still have a few questions id like answered.

1) There is a plug connection under the air box cover above the filter housing, i believe this is the exhaust valve connector? There isnt any plugs coming from anywhere, so it is just sitting there unconnected..why? The bike runs awesome just wondering about the mod people do and how to figure out if it was done correctly?

2) The kickstand kill switch does NOT work, and neither does the kill switch on the handle bar. I assume I will have to trace wires for this or is there any reason why?

3) I replaced the wheel bearings but after reinstall, i had a small question...why is there no wheel spacer between the forks and rim??

1) Does it have an aftermarket/modded exhaust? They don't use the valve, if you don't see the check engine light then it was probably disabled in ecmspy, nothing to worry about if the plug is still there, he just didn't pull out the rest of the harness, only the valve actuator.

2) Sorry, I can't help you there.

3) Again, nothing to worry about the axle has "stepped" machining in it that takes care of the spacing. Make sure you torque it down to spec and blue locktite the pinch bolts.

Good job on replacing those bearings! Its a good piece of mind thing to do on these bikes IMO. Welcome to buellxb.com forums and congrats on your Buell!

Howdy doody !!!! ... keep the questions coming ... it's what we're all here for !! ... well, except me ... I'm here for the poop jokes ... :D

it is a modified exhaust, no cel but, i was told that the ecu has never been touched...slightly backfires on rapid decel? the bike does run awesome and i have already bought and recieved the tuning cable and ecm spy program. i was going to do more research on the tuning part.
On the modified exhaust does the bike gain/lose anything from this mod..it is still a stock muffler i believe?

no kickstand sensor??

thanks on the wheel bearings..it was easy as soon as i figured out how to get the damn caliper off the rim haha.
