Greetings, my wife & I just got our new 2010 XB12Scg. Found it here via a wanted add I posted; bought it from a nice guy in Chicago area & we just got her home to Texas last week. It's a 2010 Cherry Bomb Scg w/ 2400 miles; SPOTLESS & awesome!! The bike belongs to the wife; I'm getting a fishing boat this month so this was HER purchase, even though I get to be the service department & test rider. A few questions for the hive:

Seat height- she's 5'5" & I need to get the seat either narrower through the crotch and/or lower. Corbin doesn't make one for the Scg & didn't seem interested in doing anything more than getting off the phone. Didn't have a chance to call Baldwin today, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with Baldwin and/or a custom shop. I don't know how much narrower we can go up front or how much lower we can get her; but she REALLY wants her feet flatter. Help!

Windscreen- the bike is Cherry Bomb; does anyone make a tall red screen? The wind blast @ 90mph is a little intense, & I'm hoping a tall screen might help. I've seen a few pics of bikes with tall screens in the translucent colors. Help x2!

Frame pucks- yes, she was a nervous wreck (pun CLEARLY intended) & rode it tonight without me there to help her out. She got stuck at the bottom of the driveway/ gutter & dropped it. R frame puck & bar end mirror are the only casualties that I know of. Are the frame pucks different for the Scg & the Ss? I see 2 different ones on Buell Parts.net, just wanna get the right ones. Also, removal tips? Do they stick on or what?

Tail chop? Looks like Special Ops does it right, Anyone else make or sell a plug & play kit? Also, anyone know if the Scg has a helmet lock? Silly I know, but I've very little time to dig into it.

All help appreciated. Any local guys please reach out. We're in Houston, TX. Love to meet up with some local Buelligans!

Welcome aboard!

The scg is the lowest one and I'd honestly be scared to make the bike any lower. If you do plan to, there is a company that makes a lowering kit. It involves taking the rear spring off the shock and putting a lowering cup on it. Here's the website for reference.

Don't have any experience with Baldwin seats do I can't say. Can only tell you I've heard nothing but great things about them.

Zero gravity used to make a taller cherry bomb red screen but has since discontinued making them. Someone here may have one available but it won't be cheap.

Frame pucks are different for the scg/s/r models than they are for the ss/x/xt/stt. Check American sport bike, buellparts.net and surdyke for replacements but I highly recommend you visit http://www.5-0dro.com for the finest in Buell crash protection.

Special ops makes a tail chop but Odie is often hard to get a hold of. The ones from diesel motor are great quality and bolt right in.

The Buell tool kit under the seat has a wire with two loops on the end in it. That is the factory helmet lock option. I'm not sure what it hooks to as I've never used it. In fact I only recently figured out what it was.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. We are usually a helpful bunch with lots of great information.

Enjoy your new Buell!

congrats...pics or it didn't happen:D

seat...look at the bottom of the seat, what's the part number that is high lighted by the white dot next to it? the low seat is as low as you can get stock

frame puck...look at both of them listed, they will say for what year models it will fit. they come with the adhesive pad already attached and instructions on how to clean the area before installation. when you get the old one off, use Gobe Gone, rub it over the adhesive on the frame, let it sit for a few minutes and use a clean rug to remove. may have to lightly scrub to get it off. reapply and repeat 'til it's all off. clean the area as the instructions tell you...

tail chop...it's pretty easy, just take your time in doing it. use some painters tape and draw your cut line on it, then begin your cut. a dremel, hacksaw and a file or sanding disc works well to cut and clean up the rough edges.

Thanks, Zero. So for the helmet lock, do I just hang the loops on one of the seat brackets? I'm sure it will make sense when I see it. I don't think I wanna go the route of changing the suspension, but I do think there's room to tuck the seat in towards the tank. I hope. We'll see.

Here's how the rear lowering cup piece works. This is on a Ulysses but gives you a good idea of what's involved. It doesn't look very hard at all.

You could also also take the seat to an upholstery shop and see if they can shave some of the sides off to make it thinner up front and re-cover it.

If you need any information as far as service goes, I would recommend searching for the Buellmods website and downloading a service manual from there as well.

Appreciate the advice. I'll get some pics up soon. Mech (or anyone), do you have any clue how to get the old pucks OFF? Seems like the buggers are glued on pretty well. I'll get industrious without tearing up the frame, but if anyone has a sure fire quick tip I'd appreciate it.

The guy we bought it from was super anal about stuff & has every poster, accessory catalog, & both the service manual & wiring/ electrical manual. So, I'll tear into those when I have the chance & look for answers as well.

Why are you taking the pucks off and what are the last 3 digits of your vin (that is the sequential number created) for the last year of your Buell.

Use a hair dryer, and some fishing line, or strong dental floss, and you can run it behind the puck to get it off. It uses heavy duty sticky tape to keep it on there.
I'm in H-town, and I know there are quite a few buellers that i've seen riding, and also on the forums. Enjoy the new bike, and you are a lucky guy.

ride the piss out of it to get it good and hot, heat gun and fishing line like above.
