Hey guys, just thought I'd stop in and say hello. My name is Dallas, live in Panama City and run my own Automotive Shop and just picked up a 2003 Buell Firebolt XB9R with 7400 miles, traded my Hydrostream Boat for it :) I've wanted one of these bikes for about 9-10 years (pretty much when they came out), I had a Sportster 883 back then and I remember visiting the local dealers and seeing these things sitting there and I knew I eventually had to have one. I "forgot" about it for a little while, owned a Yamaha FZR600, a Kawasaki Ninja 500 and what not, then while browsing craigslist I found this 03' and had to have it, luckily he was interested in my boat so we made the deal. She's all stock aside from a K&N (I swear the exhaust sounds louder than stock but he says it's stock), couple little dress up bits (signals, frame decals, red timing cover with pegasus backlit with LED's). So far I love it! Had to tweek the suspension to my weight and what not (seemed to have a wobble at slow acceleration) and she seems much better now. Haven't had a chance to really open her up yet but so far just love cruising around. Browsed these forums for awhile, tons of good info and decided to join now that I own one :) Got a rear seat cowl and right side scoop on the way, trying to hold off on the mod bug but it's tough lol. It's a different "feel" than any bike I've ever ridden but I'm really loving it! Gotta get used to the pops/clicks etc that this Harley makes lol, cold natured beasts they are. Look forward to chatting with ya guys and hopefully learning alot and adding stuff as well.

Nice bike and nice low miles for its year i too know how much ive always wanted a Buell and remember the feeling i got when i finally got one. Welcome to the forum:D:D:D

Thank ya sir! I was originally going to sell the boat and put the money away to help with our move next year but when I found the Firebolt I had to have it (also nice that the wife gave me the thumbs up). I won't lie I'm going to miss my boat, but it was gonna be a pain to bring to Virginia.

Thanks! I like it too, the LEDs come on when in gear and key on. Right now the only other mods I'm debating are some HIDs, gutting the stock muffler and reflashing the ECM but I think I'll leave those mods (except maybe the HID's) till later. I got a tuning cable, spare ecm, factory service manual, and tons of other stuff with it when I got her. Now I need to come up with a name.......my boat was Aquamis Prime

That is actually the elusive and coveted race pipe hangin under your new ride. Enjoy it! What part of Va are you headed to? There are several of us up here (im in richmond).

So I'm not crazy since I thought it was louder than what I thought it should be? lol, what gives it away as the race pipe? The dual exits? I'm guessing it'd be a good idea to make sure the ECM is flashed with the race tune then? I can download the software at ECMspy correct? I'll be heading to the Alexandria area, my wifes job is there. They need her to relocate... So should be somewhere in the surrounding area. Hopefully I can get my shop opened up again once we move

Well sure as s$#t, "not for road use" right on it, and something about designed for closed course...guy swore it was stock exhaust. I even asked, I was like "are you SURE this is stock, seems loud for stock pipes" and again he said yes. Glad I learned this before I decided to cut into it lol. Already loving this forum! Now makes me wonder what else is on here he didn't know about lol

Yes that's the race exhaust. Don't cut that thing up for sure. It's worth a pretty penny! The ECM is behind the front fairing and should be stamped like the one below on my 1125 "RACE USE ONLY". I bet it has the whole race kit on it.

Just pulled the front fairing, doesn't say race use only on it :( I have a spare ecm as well but doesn't say that either. I WAS given the tuning cable and a disc saying "buell files". I get some popping on decel and when it's cold a slight miss here and there, think it's a stock tune in it? Where can I get the software to upload a race tune to my ecm? Looks like ECMspy is charging now but I don't see a price

Somebody will chime in that has a copy or knows where to get it. Whats on the disk? Might not need to hunt around for ecmspy. You might have it on the disk. But yes with decel pop it is more than likely a stock tune. The miss or cough could be corrected with a breather reroute.

Just put in the disc (before I saw your reply lol) and there was an exe file, tuning files for multiple bikes (race and stock tunes), a tuning guide and a cable setup thing. I'm guessing (hoping) this is everything I need. My desktop is an imac so can't run the exe file (don't have the windows emulator on here) but will try it on my laptop tomorrow (crosses fingers). Gonna load the race file :) I've been reading into that breather reroute, that will be coming shortly (shoot maybe tomorrow if it's a slow day) Thanks alot guys! Found a few treasures I (and the PO) didn't know I had!!

Congrats on the new toy & welcome to the forum! Let us know if we can help you with some accessories for it!

Safe riding!

my race ecm doesn't have anything stamped on it, only two bar codes, one of which has a part number above the bar code...google that number and you may have a race ecm after all, welcome to the forum:D

Looks to be stock ECMs on both, maybe the PPO kept one tuned and one stock? I dunno, I'll check out my buell files disc tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Where if the ECM port to plug the cable into for tuning? I thought it was under the seat but can't find it

K found it, the disc I have just has the drivers on it, MAP files, tuning guide and setup guide for drivers, no ecmspy :( Looking at activating it with the "donation" now. Now when I get it will it come with a race map I can just upload? I'm not looking to do any fine tuning, would just like to get the correct map to go with the pipe and K&N. Did a breather reroute this morning and put 100 miles on her today!
