Hello, have had Hd all my life until now. I have a 1125cr. I love the bike except for some things that have gone wrong or better yet trying to get service or parts from any dealer locally. I have a question. It is a lame one. Never changed a back tire on one. Okay enough laughing. lol Looked on youtube with no luck. So any help for this newbie would be appreciated.

Here's a good video I watching before changing mine. I know the video is for the front but the concept is the same.
The only thing I didn't have was a bead breaker for the tire but after making a homemade one out of a few 2x4's I was able to do it.
I would recommend using the spoons and rim protectors though.

Cut the old tire off with large tin snips. Take the new tire, install 6 large zip ties around it's perimeter. Soap up the tire and rim, install the tire on the rim, the zip ties keep the tire beads together as one, so both beads are installed onto the rim at the same time. Cut zip ties off, add air to pop and seat the beads. Let the soapy water dry, then add Dyna Beads and remount wheel on bike!

Thank you, I did not explain myself very well. I am talking about taking the actual tire and rim out of the frame. With my harleys. I only had to take the bags off then the exhaust. Take one nut off axle. Pull axle threw. ETC.... That is what I am talking about. Thanks

the axle is basically just a big allen head bolt. just loosen the small allen head bolt on the bottom of the swingarm then the brake then just take the axle out. its pretty simple.

Well then the Buell will be much easier. Take the two bolts out that hold the rear caliper on the swingarm, pull the pinch bolt out for the axle then remove the axle. pull the belt to the side and pull the wheel out. Simple as that

Wow! I was actually thinking of splitting a tire balancer purchase with some riding buddies...

Any online source for Dyna Beads?

Okay, holds head in shame. It was easy getting wheel out. Now for the hard part. Having someone taking the tire off the rim. Might have to do it myself. I have done it before but would rather someone else do it. Tried 2 places to have it done. Places that I have bought harley parts from. No we do not do that here for tires that were not bought from here. Oh well no biggie. Thanks for everyones help. What size zip ties? LMBO!!!!

Try a tire shop instead of a bike parts shop. The ones that fix flats on cars, etc. Some of those places do it dirt cheap. They have a quite a few of those by me in NYC.

a lot of places wont change your tires out unless you buy the replacements from them because of liability reasons. If they sell you the tire, they can assume full responsibility for any damages if you get 5 miles from the shop and something goes wrong.

If you bring them the tire, they have no idea where you bought it from, or its condition. if you get 5 miles down the road and something goes wrong then, it could have been the tire and not their work... i dont know if that makes sense or not...it just removes any doubt/ blame on their part.
