I have not ridden regurally for years... But I want to get back to the twisties. (If you have any ideas how to get the wife's ok let me know,... it would speed up the time frame for my purchase)

I am thinking of a Buell. But alot of old info says reliablity is an issue. But of the little new info I can find, it seems to show that newer 2003+ are good. And 2007+ are really low maintance. Is this true?

I have always been a Jap Sport/Super Bike rider. Most recently I have been riding my brother's RC51. And I really love the torque for the street. I live in Western North Carolina Mountains (one of the best riding areas in North America). We can easily ride 9 months out of the year.

I want a naked bike that likes the curves... What model Buells should I be looking at and what years will be the best? (FYI I am a large guy 6'2" 275lbs but very flexible...TMI)

Thanks,

All I can tell you is that I got a really solid 04 xb12s with "high" milage (35,000) for $3500 so for someone trying to afford a Buell, if you know your way around bikes and can see potential in a used one, that's an easy way to save money. I am with you in the assumption that the xb series is basically major-malfunction and glitch free. I can say that mine still runs strong with that mileage on it. You may want an xb12ss with your height though.

Like your screen-name. [up] Might note that the '03 had problems with wheel bearing failures. It was updated afterwards.

Here's a link with differences in year models that might help with your search: Year Model Differences

Good luck with your decision. I've never looked back since I got mine! [cool][up]
