Does anyone have the abilty to check the decibel level of their Hawk muffler or done so in the past? My buddy and I are looking at going to a nearby track and they won't let you on if your bike is over 104db.

I'm not gonna even pretend to know how loud 104db is, I just wanted to make sure I was under before I roll 2 hours one way.

Somebody here knows. I know I've seen a list of the DB levels of each pipe, including Hawk, but I can't remember what it is.

I am slightly amused though that a lot of aftermarket pipes that are too loud to legally be on the road, aren't even legal off road anymore.

The exhaust shootout shows all pipes, including stock pipe, well over 110 DB (116DB stock xb12). Hawk is not on the list but I'm sure its louder than the stock pipe. Not sure if the track goes by peak or sustained..

Laguna seca only allows something like 94db, which is pretty much the loudest a stock pipe can be. The Hawk is around 102db I think. You're probably pushing it.

In the DIY section, Paniller came up with a way to quiet down the Hawk pipes, and it's removeable. If you're over the DB limit, just pop one or two in and you are good to go. Check it out here.

That insert looks cool and might do the trick, but if it came out on the track I'd be thrown off probably.
