Buell says his bikes don't compete with Harley because he doesn't build cruiser and touring-style motorcycles, and his company is tiny compared with the world's largest manufacturer of heavyweight bikes.
Well my view on it is that the XT is clearly a touring/adventure bike and with the new AX coming out if he will make another model like that or if he is going to make it more strictly an adventure bike.
Or maybe he never considered the ulysses as a true tourer despite the XT.
My guess, he didn't consider the uly a touring bike. It was a tough bike. Adventure touring yes.... but definitely NOT anything like the touring bikes Harley makes, no matter what you want to classify them as.
