So... While I'm rotating the engine to replace exhaust studs...
I'm thinking I'll get a 2nd bung welded on.

Have any of you done this? My main question is what kind of bung to get and placement. Square or angled weld surface. And 1" or 1/2"? And if deep did you replace the rear to match?

Thx Sean

Most 02 sensors are 18mmx1.5 precurved are the easiest option. Typically since it'd be on a vertical(ish) pipe just position it in such a way it wont interfere with anything. On cars or horizontal pipes I typically weld them in at a 3-4 oclock position to keep them out of the bottom of the pipe.

Just double check the sensor/wideband you are going to use.

I installed a pre-curved bung on my front pipe for my wideband. Had it welded up near the front head in the same position as the stock 2010 models. (Although mine points slightly more down then the stock) When I datalog I turn off the stock o2 so I pull the rear sensor and install the wideband there.

Cool, thanks. That was what I was looking for. Trying to mimic the 2010 header. I was looking at a pic of the rear bung and it is an angled base. Maybe 30* or 45*. I haven't located a pic of the 2010 2nd o2 bung yet. Does it go kinda horizontal under the front mount?

Lawdog, could you snap a pic of that location?
Also, your bike is a DDFI3. Have you turned on the 2nd o2 sensor in the ECM? IIRC all the ddfi3 ECM have the same functions, just not all turned on.

Thx sean

Your welcome!
Mine is the top pic. Bung pointing down. Bottom is the stock, pointing up. I had my headers powdercoater silver.

I did not turn the front O2 on. Yes you can do it and run the wiring but I don't see the need. It is for emissions and to meet the higher 2010 standards. Tune it with a wideband and be done. Stick a plug in it after. You more hp, tune for 13.2 at wot. Want more fuel economy, tune for 15 or even higher at cruise. Want cooler running tune for 13.5-14. Want best emissions stick an o2 in and tune for 14.7.
