The wife and I are leaving tomorrow morning for Asheville, NC to scope out rental properties and meet with my future bosses at BorgWarner Turbo Systems. I landed a 7 month paid internship with them working as a light-duty design engineer. The design engineer manager rides a Uly and posts on Badweb. He has followed my turbo project and contacted me last December to see how soon I graduate from UF. We discussed my time-frame and they offered me the internship.
I look forward to exploring the Asheville area. I love beer and the supply is plentiful and diverse there! We are staying at Aloft, a newer hotel right in the middle of downtown and will spend the weekend cruising the town. We will check out on Monday and meet the DE manager, the two supervisors, and a new design engineer hire for a casual lunch then I'll get a tour of the BorgWarner Turbo Systems facility.
I am really excited for the internship experience. It will be my first professional engineering experience and I hope I will want to return for a permanent position.
