oil drain plug, thread stripped in swing arm,

does anyone know the correct 'time sert' kit to repair the (oil drain) stripped thread in the swing arm?

yes i foolishly followed the manual and torqued to 26 ft pounds, OUCH!!!

I don't know the size for the drain plug, but I just did a repair of my primary tensioner hole which I stripped. If the kit is the size you need, I'll send it your way. Hope someone on here knows the size for you! Shoot me a pm if you want the time sert kit.

drain plug torque: 16-19 ft-lbs. / 192-228 in-lbs. ...most will say don't ever torque the drain plug, I do it everytime and for the past 8-1/2 yrs with no issues. do as you wish, it's your bike, but if you're going to just snug it up, at least drill a hole into the flats of the plug and on the flange of the drain. I'll post a pic shortly.

the oil drain plug and the primary drain plug are the same...same O-ring...same required 5/8th inch socket or wrench for removal. the size is 1/2X20 sae.

Any luck with the fix? I did the same thing to mine while winterizing it in December. I finished that process but now is the time to get her going again. If you did get it fixed, how did it go? Any issues? Anybody else have thoughts on the reliability of this fix?

I actually bought a replacement swing arm from a member on here, but am also wondering if this fix is ok and if I should just hold on to the swing arm for a rainy day.

I've posted this a few times so forgive me if it sounds old, but I still recall my high-school mechanics teacher making us intentionally strip threads using nuts/bolts in a vice so that we developed a feel for the appropriate range of torque to apply to various fasteners. It doesn't replace a torque wrench, but it does help one become critical of incorrect manual specs...
