I know I have seen another thread about this, can't seem to find it right now.

Recently changed the oil in my CR for the 2nd time by me. Bike has 6300 Miles.

Cannot seem to get a good read from the dip stick. I KNOW I put in 2.7qts. Oil light comes on for a second or 2 when I start the bike, then goes off. But it still worries me. When I initially changed the oil, the dip stick was right where it was supposed to be. Now I can barely get a read.

Thoughts? Anyone else experience this kind of thing?

bike is a 2009

I wouldn't worry about a few seconds of oil light at start-up. My CR does that, and so has pretty much every bike I've ever owned with an oil light.

It's supposed to show the oil light at start up. You don't want to see it while it's running.

I find it hard to check too.

However, you know what you took out and you know what you put in. So you know it's good for the first bit.

You don't see any leaks, spray, mist, fouled plugs or smoke so you know it's still good a bit later.

Change frequently following the DIY video and don't bother about checking in between.

Just my really bad advice that you can get away with when you work on your own bike.

I had the same frustration when I changed my CR oil last time too. Exactly like you say...put in the 2.7 qts and nothing showing on the dipstick. I took for a quick spin and checked it again and was barely reading on the dipstick this time. I just left it at that knowing I put the correct amount in as lamarchangel said.

I've had this problem with my xb9 I asked the dealer and they told me all buells are different some take more and some take less and my response was how is that possible when everything is the same?
