Has anyone put an oil level sight glass on the swing arm at the required level for proper reading? Since there are many that are doing "custom" builds, what's your thoughts about it? Or anyone?

Inline with that of the dipstick level, but that may be difficult due to the position of the dipstick itself and where the oil level reading is taken at. Would need to scope it and take measurements of the fluid level in relation to the top of the tank inside, account for thickness of the material and transfer those measurements to the outside of the swing arm. Center the sight glass there to read "ADD" and "Full" inline with that of the dipstick. Easier said than done, but I do have access to the latest from Olympus to get the measurements:D

I don't think any special tools will be necessary to measure the location. I'll transfer the full and add lines to the outside of my stock swingarm tomorrow.

Haven't found a sight glass yet, some of the ones I've looked at state needing to use a nut with it if the material is less than 4mm thick. Looking for one that just threads on.

Swing arm is around .200" thick in that area. Personally I think a weld in threaded bung is the best option.

yea, that's what I'm coming across. Was hoping to find something that didn't require welding and that's not something I'm fluid in.

You could do something like this that only requires drilling and tapping two holes.

That's so old school, yet works well:p think I'll look into the welding method, however the bung would work fine. Do you think you'll do that with yours?

Yep I'm all about that. My dads triumph t110 has a thread in sight glass, I wonder if I could find one cheap and make a threaded bung for it

I've got a candidate, new style swing arm, damaged beyond repair. Looking for an early model one in the same condition to do the same with. Once I have both and get a sight glass, have a few at work that can be donated to the cause...the fun will begin :D
