Hey everyone,

I need to swap out just the outer oil pump cover on my 2008sb12scg which is part number 1 in the diagram. Is there any bad things that would happen with just replacing that part? I know in the manual is states that if removing the pump itself you need to unload the valve train to relieve pressure on the cam
assemblies and a bunch of other junk like disconnecting oil lines. If I am just replacing part number 1 can I just go at it without doing all those steps? Thanks!

You'll get some drips, but keep it clean in there and you'll be ok. Try to keep the gasket (2) against the pump side so the pump plate (3) doesn't drop out of place.
