Oil

The issue from I can see is not the crank case but the primary with our wet clutches. I've never had an issue with standard synthetic but according to the articles that's where the difference is. MC oil should be in our primaries, crank case not to worry.

Just started running Red Line in my Electra Glide and Amsoil in the Buell. So far, no problems with either.

Mobile 1 V-Twin made my gears clunky and harder to shift. I took it back to the dealership to check it out after they changed the primary oil, thinking they messed up the fluid level or adjustment or something. It was all adjusted properly. I switched to Amsoil at the next oil change and all the shifting troubles went away.

I also just use regular non energy conserving synthetic. I can get royal purple 20w50 for $7.80 a quart at my local auto store. I have never used a motorcycle oil in any of my bikes and never had a problem.

Mobil 1 20W50, both holes, in XB and M2. I wanted to try Amsoil but it it's little to hard to get. I can get M1 at Autozone.

Mobil I...15-50, "car oil".

Have for many years. I have three bikes, well one is close, that have gone over 100,000 miles with the Mobil I "car oil".
My 03, R1 Yamaha has 99,3xx miles on it, with zero problems. Still on the original clutch also.

Though...I have just put Royal Purple in my little XB12S. The previous owner ran it...I changed to Mobil I for two changes...decided to put the Royal Purple back in...for no real reason...!

But my 1125CR and my R1 still have Mobil I in them.

I just went to a car and motorcycle show yesterday and found Amsoil V-Twin full syn motorcycle oil for $10.00 a court. So I picked some up[up]

if you start to run synthetic, make sure you stay with a synthetic. if you don't you can damage the seals.

thats a big myth, you wont damage anything by swiching back and forth. I just tell people to make the jump to synthetics and stay with them becuase if you can afford them its worth it. Ive built plenty of engines and never had a problem, ive even used conventional oil to top off between changes when I have synthetic in the engine and vice versa
