Wow!, time has flown by and it has been my first year on a Uly XB12X this month. 13K miles of pure joy for my wife and I. The ULY has motivated her to get her license and buy her own GZ 250. This is monumental since she and my in-laws were dead set against motorcycles period, and this Uly was the first motorcycle she has ever ridden on.
The bike has been excellent and only in the shop one time, initially at purchasing it.
Been easy to work on doing the breather reroute, ecm relocate, re-mounted the windscreen, and grounded the engine.
Of all the mods the easiest and biggest performance improvement was putting the engine ground wire in.
Also what a great group of people on this forum, thank you for all your information, feedback, and advice. It has been great to be part of it. Look forward to another year....

Thanks!
Well, she did not procrastinate, she had her license since December 2012 after taking the MSC. Then purchased the GZ 250 since February.
Would be nice to get another Buell for her. I think she would do well on a Firebolt. What do the Lady Bueller's prefer?

tbone: very nice post on your part. that is a great starter bike for the ball and chain. enough power to go most everywhere but not enough to scare her. she'll do well on it. one other thing: walk me thru this engine ground you speak of. what were symptoms if any prior to install? where did you install it? hardware used? effects of same. thanks much for any info.

Hi lunaticfringe,
Yes the engine ground is in another thread, I'll try to post the link here:

As far as I knew before the bike ran good and always took a little bit to warm up, as well as ramp up the RPM's off the idle. I did not know any better as it was normal to me. After grounding the engine it revs much nicer in all situations, even cold. I notice a lot more power at the bottom end especially 2500 rpms. Also i used to sometimes hear a little spark knock at WOT at 2500 rpms that lasted less than a second before the engine revd up. After the ground was installed, WOT at 2500 I hear no spark knock at all, front wheel comes off the ground easily with only the throttle. So now I wheelie almost every time I ride the bike. Not sure what is going on with it, maybe one of the sensors is liking the ground, CPS, TPS, ETS...... Not sure?? but I do like the results and wish I had done this a while ago. It is too cheap, easy, and quick to do, about a couple of feet of 10 gauge stranded copper, heavy duty ring terminals on both ends, solder and some heat shrink at the cable and terminals. Connected the cable from the rear bolt of the coil pack directly to - battery. The bike is totally stock, ecm relocate, K&N AF, Breather Mod, and now ground wire. If you have any insight on how this is affecting things let me know, some say it is psychological. That is cool too if I can use my brain to get my Buell to wheelie like this, I am alright with it.

link worked tbone and thanks for the info. i remember that post now. probably do that this winter when the sleet and freezing rain is flying. thanks again for the post.
