oh yea, and any other time people start listing "extras" on the bike you guys quickly come back with "Money spent on Aftermarket is money gone".

Sorry Freak, but getting your buddies to help devalue everything else isn't cool. Your OP almost sounded like maybe I would owe YOU money for the deal...

SS is seen less than the Bolt , but my 7 year old bike has had NO problems and Im the 3rd owner. Your 5 yr old bike has had a fan replaced and has a rocker box leak. I know your bike is newer but the only Diff in the 2 is the egros of the riding position and a lil streach.

Everyone has their own opinions and I have think that our bikes are an even wash.

My bike is 7 yrs old, has had no maintnace issues, has 13,500 miles, and a proven exhaust.

Your bike is an 07 with 10,000 miles has a rocker box leak, a fan replaced, a frayed belt replaced and a gutted stock muffler.

Just looking at those 2 points shows that your bike has been hammeerd on more and harder. That brings down the value in anyones book.

I will keep my "Older" and evidently more reliable bike, and be happy.

In his defense, my 08 TT had 6000 miles and had a leaking rear rocker seal which in turn leaked oil into the fan burning it out and i kept my bike in prestine shape. [smirk]

Everything dies sooner or later...

Rocker box leaks on all 06-07 bikes...crappy gaskets from HD, easy fix. Fan was replaced because of the leak...so you get a newer fan.

belt was frayed from belt guard...big deal, you just end up with a newer belt.

Yea it's been to the track, but I don't constantly try to pull wheelies the whole time either. Yea read all of your previous posts as well...

Knowing that your bike has had NO problems means I'll be doing a lot of work on it in the future. I already know that. It's pushing it's way to being a decade old.

I'll make sure I link this thread if I ever decide to list my bike for sale anywhere so I can make sure I get absolute bottom dollar for it.

I was keeping this on private messages because that's how people do business. You don't publicly announce **** like that. It also shows what kind of person you are. Not once have I tried to devalue your bike anymore than what's needed. In fact, I think your bike is pretty awesome and stands out among other Bolts, you know that as well since you post a pic of it every time someone mentions Firebolt. It's not awesome enough to completely trump mine. Still, you started this thread to get your buddies in here to try to beat me into submission to give away $1K for another bike.

We need to get him in here to make sense of all this. I need to make sure there's at least one other Buell that needed a wrench or two.

Lets not get the whole thing restarted with rrh481. Its a looooooooong story with this forum. My topic was never intended to bash your bike or you as a person.......It was to get other buellers honest opinion of the trade. Yes my bike is older but well taken care of. Yes your bike is newer but has had issues. Sure the rockerbox & fan issue was out of your control when it happened, but at the time you fixed the fan you should have fixed the leak. By not doing that shows that you either didnt know how to fix it or didnt care. You yourself said "A day in the garage and a $100" would fix it. Thats neglect in anyones book by ignoreing the problem. By you saying that you would have had to fix my bike in the future just shows that you imediatly where devaluing my bike based on its year alone......the same way I was doing yours with all of the said issues. You have to understand that just because KBB says hey this is what its worth means nothing to many people.......its just the easy way out for thoses that dont care or know. I know my bike and I know how to give a real world aprasial on a vehicle. The mileage on your bike in relation to the year model shows that your bike is used alot more than mine and that brings down value. Even if our bikes were bone stock with the same miles and no issues on either I would say they are worth the same amount. No matter how you try to look at it your bike has seen more action and in the end it brings down the value. Other than a couple of minor tweeks in the chassis and 3 yrs diffrence in the build time our bikes are pretty close to bing the same.........lets not forget Mines DDFI1 and yours is DDFI2. Good luck with a possable trade up to a newer bike in the spring.

Only one person said anything about the wrapped header and a possable hidden dent. I was going to ask about that any ways. Header wrap is a good way to hide an unsightly dent or scuff with out spending a fortune. Plus I think a couple of people on here have bought bikes with hidden dammage that wasnt seen because of header wrap. Not saying you are the type of person to do such a thing......its just a thought that crosses everyones mind when they see header wrap.

That is the only jab anyone took at your bike.......everything else was out in the open. You have to be a couple crayons short of a full box to think that any sane person would not have asked the same question I did when I posted this topic.

Did you go google that real quick? We're obviously two different people. I can say my bike is worth the same as a Ferrari, doesn't mean it is to everyone else. Seems really convenient for some people doesn't it? I didn't fix the oil leak because I had a track day the same weekend...bikes been maybe 50 miles and sitting since.

This whole thread is me defending myself and my decisions from you. You say you had innocent intentions with the thread but it instantly started as an '07 Ss rockerphotographer bash.

Once again you publicly announce a private message of mine. If I did trade up, as you're wanting to do, I wouldn't have a problem making the trade even up with the cash needed. I have close friends just like you and know your mentality in situations like this. People like you always get the better deal or there's no deal. It's all good though, I just want an "even" deal.

ok, rrh put an 08 12 motor in his older 9 frame because the motor went on his 9. so yes he's done work.

going by trade value, since it would be a trade. it's roughly a 500 dollar difference, if he doesn't care about the exhaust simply switch them and keep your respective exhausts. then there would just be the issue of the difference in trade value (this is assuming both are considered good condition). yes there were gasket issues from the factory for the 07, but if he fixes the leaking gasket there's no issue there. let's stop the "I take better care of mine" talk. in every purchase you should always assume the worst, and he's being honest with you about it. however, since there is a leak and it shorted out your fan it does bring questions. without the gasket being fixed the new fan you put in could be susceptible to failure because of the leak (if it's being ridden).

rocker, don't take it badly if he wanted oppinions about what a fair price would be.

I can honestly say that out of everyone that posted in here I only personaly know one of them and he never bashed you or your bike.

And did I google what? Are you implying somthing?

Say what you want but I never tried to swindle you out of anything. Personally had the trade gone trough I felt like I was loosing out. Mainly because I would be starting over from scratch with no knowlege of past maintence records or back histoty of the bike. I know everything about mine back to May of 06 and the previous owner is my best freind.

Yea I'm bad about that wolfo, wife says so ALL THE TIME. Though I really do feel that people on the forum are tuff on Buell values when the bike's not theirs, ESPECIALLY from outside the forum.

sentimental value tends to do that, I don't think it's so much that he wants the better deal. he's skeptical about what all the bike has been through. and seeing some things going wrong and being on the forum for a while, he may have seen those initial problems on another bike and be recognizing what kind of issues they can snowball into.

and the statement you made about going through toys like they're water is a pretty scary statement.

just a lot of questions, and a lot of caution.

no hard feelings about it all, he's just been around long enough to see some of our horror stories lol
