I ordered a XB-1 exhaust the day and would like some opinions from the forum about some options I have to think about. I plan on getting the headers as well but I'm conflicted about 1.75" or the 1.88" tube dimension. I have an 08 XB12 with open air box,EBR race ECM and BRISK racing gapless plugs.

I don't want to loose any torque at the lower RPMs if I can help it. The Jardine can I currently have has reduced it enough in my opinion and would like to fix it. Will I have any issues with the 1.88" header set up? I plan being buried with this bike so head work is in its future , just don't want any loss in the now.

Have you asked Dean that particular question concerning primary tube diameter and its effects on low rpm torque and high rpm scavenging?

Gloom, the purpose of spark plugs is to ignite the atomized fuel/air mixture which has been compressed within the engine cylinder, hence the term "internal combustion" engine. Hope this helps. :eagerness:

always a comedian in the crowd. LOL.

The plugs drain your pockets faster @ $30 a pair... They do the same as any other. I think the bike has some more pop at WOT but who really knows.

I have the larger header with special ops pipe but I need a tune. I really couldn't tell you the difference between the header vs stock. The bike seems the same to me no matter what I have done to it. Not sure what map I have but it's not stock mapping.

some funny **** right there chris!:applause:

Lunatic hit the nail on the head again. Tom, the videos of the spark are beautiful, compelling and the idea is great but the cost is prohibitive. My commuting milage improved a bit but hard throttle seems to eat more fuel compared to the NGKs. Will I use them again? Yes, here come the eye rolls, I'm still using 400 to 500/1 2-stroke oil too... Won't stop...

"wink" :up:

whatever "enhanced and superior performance" means.. I wonder what they are talking about?

goes something like this tom....and i quote: "The newly designed GV model has improved and enhanced performance over all previous models. this increase in both reliability and superior performance topping all others in its class.... makes this years model an even superior value over all prior models." 1987 Yugo GV ad.....Spring/1987 Motor Trend magazine.

I have the 1.88" headers with a Drummer muffler. I also have open airbox and slightly higher compression ratio (thinner head and base gaskets). I didn't really notice any low end loss, but didn't get it tuned in completely before I changed my mind on something (waiting until I finish that before I post about it). The only downside I've seen with the 1.88s is that you can't run a RSS. I had the Uly comfort kit one and Dean told me before I ordered the headers that they wouldn't clear. After I put them on I decided to try the small 2010 RSS, but it doesn't fit either unfortunately. I'm sure you could make something work, but I've just been using the stock plate over there.

You can get a rss from twin motorcycles through 5.0-dro it's the European model and would be around 270$ but it will fit. I'm going to eventually get one. First I need to get my back surgery so I can ride again but it's a must have for me.

I have Deans 1.88 headers on my 07STT At first I lost power in the 3-4k range then I put LC2 wideband set up on it and tuned it. Open the throttle quick to about 1/4 in first and the front end comes up quick, same on 1-2 shift. I nodded a Uly RSS with a cutout to fit and a heat shield works well. An advantage to Deans headers is that you can pull the springs on the rear pipe remove the header nuts, pull the pipe out of the collector and fish the rear piece out the bottom to get at the o2 sensor.

they are trying to seduce me.. you know how I am about "weird" stuff..

Got my pipe on Friday. Sent it over to the powder coat shop for ceramic coat and to have the down pipe done on the inside with a heat reduction coating. I'm polishing the tips. Here it is raw.

Going to be nice...
