So I just installed Oberon Bar End mirrors and they look fantastic! Made the purchase from motowheels.com.. Look great and installed easy!

Anyways onto the point... Just wondering what people have done to the original mirror mounts where you see the threading. I know I might be picking but it kinda bothers me... I have yet to find a screw that doesn't have a head larger than the diameter of the mount that fits the threading. I was thinking of cutting, filling and re-coating the levers, but that might be kinda over-doing it a bit...

anyways what do you guys think... any ideas?

hmm, don't aftermarket levers get rid of that? You could always just squeeze some liquid weld in there to fill them up then use some touch up paint, you'd never know they were even there. another thing you can do is fill it up with bondo. Other than that I got nothing.

I was thinking the same thing about my bike, being a custom fabricator opens some options to me. I was thinking I could turn a plug either out of an existing bolt or make one. Likewise, you can use bondo, or polyester resin. I also have a lot of two-part plastic resins in stock. You can tint polyester resin with oil paints.

The firebolts come with a simple black plastic rivet screw as the brackets are the same as the lightning.

Thanks alot guys!

I did something a little similar to what you posted squiers007, I wish my internet was working at home last night or I probably would have just bought those from the dealer... nevertheless, problem solved.

I purchased 2 large dome headed bolts (with the head being the same diameter as the opening of the lever holes, unfortunately thread diameter was much smaller) painted them satin black... put a bit of silicone in the hole... and tadaaa!! looks pretty clean now.. simple enough and reversible too!

Lowe's has black plastic plugs as well, if (like me) you are too far from a dealer to go get two little black plugs.

I was looking into the bar end mirrors. Are they just for aesthetic reasons?

Looking at the options so far, Has anyone used these for the hole? Not sure if they come big and short enough but I figured I'd throw this out there.

Yeah mainly for aesthetics...

But they also don't vibrate like the stock mirrors..

ive just done the same.ive ordered the proper plugs for it for 36 pence from my local harley/buell dealer:D
cheers

And I can actually see behind me in the non-vibrating mirrors as well, as opposed to the stock mouse ears! Bought mMotrax on sale @ Cycle Gear - they are basically CRG look-alikes. They are great.
